Cap On Social Skills Per Dwarf.

Three or four of the eight social skills, max, per dwarf, depending on their personality type, rather than being able to skill up all eight.

Similarly; skill decay/damage. A Proficient Comedian ought to lose a bit of his punch when his wife dies.

Social skills are fine as they are right now since social skills are useless for the most part appart from the fact that they, for little reason, raise attributes.

Once Social skills actually DO something then it will really matter

In fact they could disapear from the game and I wouldn't notice a difference.

I would very much like for the stat-boost from socials to go away next version. I don't want an army of comedians.

Though Neonivek I do say that your quite funny, so I guess an army of you would be beneficial for all

Yeah, I agree social skills should barely touch physical skills and moderately affect the Mental attributes.

Agreed. The term is thrown around quite liberally in this game, it seems; as you stated in your other thread, it would be nice to see them rarified.

Legendary social skills are rather mundane anyhow... Think of it as being the greatest shoe lace tie-er in the world... Yes your the best... but who cares? Same goes with many other legendary skills

If it didn't make people champions as well (which I don't believe it does) then it is perfect the way it is.

Perhaps Legends should only become legends... if they do something... legendary... not at some sort of cap at their skill unless they repeatingly show themselves to be increasingly competent in that field (so a Legendary Armorsmith would become legendary by making continuous masterwork items)

The current legendary status (and other skill titles) is a mix-up of the fame (title), social position (getting free rent) and actual skill aptitude. They'll interplay eventually, but it shouldn't be hard-coded.

There could be legendary liars, but they should be rare as any legendaries. Baron von Münchausen, or Marco Polo for example. Rogueish adventurers would be prime candidates. Diplomats could become legendary negotiators, king Solomon is a legendary Judge of Intent, and there are plenty of legendary orators (that's actually something the philospher should do from time to time), etc...

Legendary get a title? I thought that only happened if they made an artifact to become legendary and ignored skill level.

I thought you meant a character title such as "Dwarf McDwarf Creator of the Shoemangler"

Hard skill caps are irritating as hell.

Solution(?): Instead of caps, just change how quickly an individual can gain a skill, so any dwarf can train a skill up to an arbitrary level, but for some it comes more naturally.

Also, for social skills, personality should (if it doesn't) affect which ones they DO use. After all, a nice, straightforward dwarf won't be using his Liar skill very much in the first place.
