Nit: Doors need a wall next to them, so you're stuck with floodgates.

The only perfect defense is one that automatically drops magma on any invaders.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

Nope, the fire immune things will just swim to you.  You gotta automatically encase your entire fort in obsidian to be safe.

You can build a wall, then build a door, then deconstruct the wall. ;)

I can't remember the exact quote, but Toady One himself stated that [FIREIMMUNE] creatures only think magma is safe.  Hence why dragons will walk down a staircase into a channel of magma.

But some creatures that have big enough body temperature (and other tags) can swim in magma. Fire imp and Spirit of fire for example.

And I think floodgates need to be next to a wall or another floodgate anyways.

But those won't siege your fort.

You just gave me a modding idea:
Ambushing squads of fire imps!

FUN!

I don't think so. From what I have heard every creature have the same chance of surviving the fall. Some just get lucky, I heard about a donkey which survived 13 Z levels fall, while usually 5 levels is enough to kill them.

Nope. The door is auto-removed.

Nope, floodgates can go anywhere.

The only truly dwarfy idea is a triple hull for protection. It's a sphere of obsidian ( it's pretty) surrounded by water( in a shell) surrounded by magma, inside a shell of natural obsidian. Not even building destroyers can get through that. everything but the outermost shell can be constructed, even. Dwarf points for building such a device. The only way in is through the top. Pit traps drop unwanted guests through a hole in the fortress (like a donut) to a spiky narrow-clothing collection pit. Hook those spike traps up to a logic repeater. Two, ideally, for checkerboard awesome.

Perfect(ly dwarfy) defense:

A drawbridge trap over a chasm or bottomless pit where another drawbridge above the invader opens up to drop three levels of water onto their heads, (possibly) forcing fliers down.

Or, you could just use cages.
