Just a question, does that anvil actually work? Because I remember someone tried to build a plant anvil once, but because the material was not fire-safe the anvil didn't count as fire-safe, and was therefore unusable.

Soap is a fire-safe material; it can be used unmodded for building furnaces etc.

You don't need fire-safe stones, blocks, or bars for forges (as long as it's not wood).  Not even for magma forges.  You could make a smelter out of coal if you wanted.
