Quick question on dumping

Will stuff designated for dumping always be dumped in the closest garbage dump?

Knowing dwarves, I highly doubt it. Expect them to go to the farthest, most out of the way one to dump.

Dwarves have a different understanding of the term "Closest" than you might expect. I.e. the measure the distance disregarding the actual pathfinding - so if you have a dump designated a Z-level above the item, it will be the 'closest' - even if the dwarves need to run acress the whole map to get there.

Another observation i made: The dwarves seem to prefer an Chasm-Dump to any other dump zones, regardless the distance.
