Not to be too condescending, but I suggest you play through the entire original campaign before trying out a mod.

SII doesn't have much in the way of Official (or unofficial, for that matter) mods, but I suppose you could try the Massive Mod.

Animals never sleep AFAIK, but If you're still on the first island, just avoid the northern section; at least until you've built up a decent stock of weapons. If you're on a later island, when you clear out an area, make sure to destroy the lion spawning rock. Spears and bows/crossbows should be simple enough to create with the items you have at your disposal.

I downloaded notrium and its an exe, i start it and nothin comes up, i look in processes under task manager, no notrium.exe! I meet the system requirements. any ideas?

If you hold down the mouse button when the building footprint is visible, you can rotate it. I don't think you can rotate buildings vertically though.

That's because you downloaded the installation executable, you'll need to install that first.

build hut(I mean the 'good' one), recieve lokcpick, search the shore for a box you can't break, use lockpick on box, MINIGAME, you get a map and a shovel, dig up treasure, pirate shows up, talk to him for a bit, dig up his gold, go back, give to pirate,get fishing pole or get 20? raw fish, don't eat em though but they HAVE to be raw, talk to pirate, get the hell out of shithole.

Large island hard mode isn't that hard. Small island hard mode is INCREDIBLY hard. Your pretty much guaranteed to find all the resources if you look far enough on a large island. On a small island, you have critters at your door all the time unless you stop them, and if you stop them no more meat.

Oh, a bit of a major glitch. Once you can recover arrows via hunting skill, your arrow towers leave arrows occasionally. Granted, they are the low level ones, but if you put a couple near a lion rock, and sleep, when you go back, there will be several hundred arrows on the ground.

Also, your best weapon is probably your bow. Poison and flame arrows make it easy to knock off critters and trees, respectively.

ninja'ed! Anyway, on large hard maps I set out to exterminate the lions and raptors+raptor spawn points, and leave lion spawnpoints in some cases because lions give good meat.

I made myself an Arbelest and proceeded to own the lions on the first island.

How does the lockpicking minigame work?
I can cycle from 1-3.
