I have now been on the raft for four hours.  The Island has long since passed out of view, and I begin to worry that I didn't bring enough supplies.

I think I will turn back, gather as much food as possible, and try again tomorrow.

It's 4 PM now, and I left at 7 AM.  No sign of the island at all, just a blank expanse, and the sky is turning orange.  It'll be night soon.  I have nowhere near enough food to last more than a day, and no water at all.
It was stupid to leave without preparation, I was so desperate to get away I didn't even think of gathering food and water, and now I'm going to pay with my life.

It's true, the ocean plays tricks on your eyes, and I spent the entire day going the wrong way, I probably rode right past the island.

I realized I may have a tiny chance at survival.  I brought my fishing rod, and if I can catch a few fish, the food and water could last me long enough to find either rescue or the island.

EDIT:  THE ISLAND!!  I found it!!  Fonzi be praised!

Can anyone tell me how I get cord?  I just can't figure it out!  Also, I've gotten a piece of flint before from, I think, an iron ore spot.  But I'm not sure.  Can flint be found at any stone location, and if so, is there a way to increase your chances of getting it (I've only got the one).

Cord is made by selecting cotton in your inventory and clicking E.

I've never found flint from hitting rocks, I just wander around to find it.

Interesting game.  I had a shelter, campfire, wood storage and small general storage box and finally figured out how to make an axe and started working on a hut.  

I went to sleep for a night.

Found out they added that into the latest update, had no idea what it was.
"Oh hey my storage is on fire"

Perhaps I should move my wood storage then.  Its about the same distance away.  

Or I could just let it burn, I'm sure I'll have a metric ton of branches by the time I collect all the stuff I need to finish my hut.

I died, and it was the stupidest death ever.  I got killed by a lion, after my boat(Containing a week's supply of food, and all kinds of gear I thought I might need) teleported into the sky, and I fell off of it, losing all of my stuff.  I then went to make a net, and the lion started chasing me.  I had my fishing pole out, and I tried to grab a machete from my storage.  I accidentally right-clicked though, so I started fishing.  In the middle of the island.  With a lion next to me.
