Unfortionatly, I was left REALLY bogged down in hauling tasks.  I think I might have to assign skills unit by unit to be able to get anything done as well, since there seems to be professions from which there are just no survivors.
Yeah, sorry about that.  I basically assigned reclaim and melt to everything on the surface, which I then turned into 9 suits of steel plate mail and spears.  Also, I think everyone has been assigned to masonry or glassworking.  You might want to check that out in Dwarf Foreman and reassign it as you see fit (though I wouldn't cut the glassmakers).

Furthermore, some professions died out entirely because they do stupid things in the course of their work (like walking into lava).  I understand now why there were no miners following Duke's reign.

I just realized it's going to be really hard training a miner because there is nothing to mine!   ;D

There's 6 or so unofficial miners (including Duke the Fishmaster).  I didn't set them to mine, so I figured you did.

Duke's been mining.  Alright, starting the day.  Conna wipe tasks clean, and re-initialize them one by one along with re-forbiding the stuff outside for now, just gettign the stuff closest to the entrances if I do.   But apparantly someone decided to melt down all the +steel mail+ outside to make -steel plate- when there is almost enough -steel plate- already out there for the entire army.

In  addition half the large steel bolts were also melted before i got to them, sigh.

The Loony Toony raises a valid point, there's hardly anything left to mine. I think a lack of miners is the least of our problems. Especially since we're apparently running out of stones.

We could set up a system to make obsidian, we'll never run out of that stuff if we do it properly.
