Elf King of the dwarves?
« on: November 11, 2008, 12:25:39 am »

So, the king finally showed up. A couple problems though: 1) he shows as Ruler/Elf King, and 2) I can't assign anything to him, so his requirements can't be met. I spent hours encrusting his and his queen's (actually a guard by profession) platinum furniture with rubies...anything I can do to solve this?

Also, they show up as "Tame" and not "Noble" in the task column of the unit window.

Like all problems that you have to think about for more than three seconds, kill it with fire. Magma solves everything.

I love the consensus in this thread.

I guess my original expedition leader/manager/legendary miner is getting a really, really nice room now. Hurray, communism!

Edit: any idea why this happened? Did the elves take over the dwarven kingdom? Did the dwarven queen...oh ye gods, I don't want to think about elf/dwarf crossbreeds, thank you very much.

I guess I'll make a copy of the save, this is the first fortress that survives long enough for such an event, even if it was just a dirty elf.

Editedit: Now I'm trying to figure out how to single out the elf king. He's standing in my well room with about half my fort's population, and won't go to his room since it isn't actually his. Hmm...

Build your death trap in that room. When it's ready to go, recruit everyone, and leave him standing alone in there as the floodgates open up.

Wall him up if you can and let him starve>
Only forseeable difficulty is knowing when he's dead.

Or maybe do a quick cave-in to drop him to his death and re-floor the results?

He wandered into one of my general bedrooms for some reason - it was already claimed, so I don't know why. Anyhow, it's out of the way, enough for me to dig a channel above it and drown him. Say goodnight, elf scum!

I nominate you for the Medal of Dwarveness, for extreme elf regicide. Good job!

I vote you keep the skull.

I vote you make the skull into a totem and place it some where prominent.

To avoid any unhappy messages about burial, put them ( king, queen, consorts, guards, and relatives, any other victims ) in an aqualock ( A water cannon which blasts the occupants of the holding chamber off the map's end, using an aqueduct to avoid massive flooding.

Using lava is optional...

The deed is done.

Now to deal with the queen.

Sounds good. I can make a totem out of it and place it at the entrance, so those damn bureaucrats will know to send a real dwarven king next time.

>:3

Now get rid of the corpse.

No, just temporarily bury his coffin, then sell it at the next visit from the next caravan. ( dwarven caravans come back when there are no kings/queens/heirs )

Nvm, so you better protect it, it needs to be a display of warning ( also what about the other parts of the body... Elven King roast, and the totem is decorated with his own bones... )

I couldn't even assign him a coffin. I guess if I build a general one he'll be buried there, being the only recently dead thing in my fortress.

You could always just leave it in there, have an adventurer come back later and find the door locked, and try to bust it open.
