Man I love kobolds, becuase despite rain, no bed, friends being slaughtered, and being forced to watch that friend decay, all my champions are elastic only from a sparing session and taking joy in slaughter.  I plan to invade this massive cave soon with a legendary ettin, so far I have 4 champions, 3 in-training hunters, and 1 bed-ridden hunter (suppose to be a champion but his spine went snap).  All this out of a population of 19.

...

I really want to say something, but I don't know if I can make that any better than it is.

I didn't want to say anything either, it's epic enough as-is

... My champions are all moderately good swimmers.

I suppose that they've been throwing each other down the well, giving me a bunch of dangerous terrain spam, and training in that one square of water.

So, now I assume swimming can be trained by carving troughs through the barracks so that they always dodge into them?

Yeah, as long as you make sure they can get out. Lots of ramps/stairs may be in order.

Also, I think 4/7 water allows the dwarves to train swimming while also allowing them to drown less.

A dwarf's unfailing capacity to believe what he prefers to be true rather than what the evidence shows to be likely and possible has always astounded me. We long for a caring Fortress which will save us from our childish mistakes, and in the face of mountains of evidence to the contrary we will pin all our hopes on the slimmest of doubts. Wow.  I remember hearing that back in the 2D days, dwarfs would tame and adopt vermin, and sometimes they would wear the vermin they tamed.  I didn't know they could still do that.

Also, is this mod still alive?

Could anyone please post only modified raws somewhere? And worldgen, if it's changed. I really want to try this out, but downloading full game is not an option for me...

What duck?
I actually laughed.
It's probably a bit sad that I got that immediately.
No it's not, the Duck Man is a recurring character in the Disc World books.  That said, ducks must be added in as tamable vermin.
Nice looking mod, by the way.  I'm gonna try it out.

Okay, tried it out.  Why can't we make stone spears, shovels, and daggers?  Aside from that it's great.

I have to say, this mod is the best I've ever seen. Ever.

Something about the helplessness and blind optimism combined with the comics/sprites makes me unbelievably attached to the horrid buggers  :D Also, it has potential to totally rock DF's core if done right.

EDIT: How come it appears I can't go down or up Z-levels? This is crippling.
