I've been playing this for a while now and been enjoying lot to just explore and being all rangerish, but I guess I could join some town now. The reason is that I recently had a severe crocodile bite and The best healing cover I've been able to do is power of 8 and it's not enough to recover.

So I'm just asking do you have any healers there who could help me. If you can help I'd be willing to join and contribute to building the town of yours.

It seems the directions given are inadequate for someone entirely new to the game to find it, given there is a lack of a compass in the game.

There's a compass on a pedestal where you start, and in the middle of each settlement.  And if I'm not mistaken, the Wurm wiki said the sun rises in the NORTH.

However, you will still want someone to lead you where you're going on the first time.  After that it's usually easy.

I have a little settlement on the Home server, though I have heard you can actually travel between the two?

I'm Soulwynd on home and Nightwiynd on wild. Cheesy, I know. Anyone wanna get together and start building stuff? I'm so lost if feels like my first day figuring out DF.

However, It was extremely fun to be all thirsty, exhausted and roll down a cliff right into a lake, ending up with tons of wounds. Hmm, reminds me of the new adventure mode.

Nice. Not sure I'm gonna go premium, but I still want to check out and help if I can. I've found the game to be quite enjoyable.

Btw, what irc server are you using? I haven't used irc in... 10 years... so I have no idea.

Hey all.

I may end up joining you, as my current group on Wild is a well, not to my liking.  In any case, I'm a blacksmith, and I'll probably show up to check out the place later.

I'm planning to stick around on the Home server for a while until I learn the ropes, and earn some money.

Then I'll transform everything I can't carry into money, take my tools, and head west until I find you.

As a Dwarf Fortresser at heart, I plan to engineer the enemy into submission, specifically by forming a sapper corps. Alone if I have to!

I'd help, but the client crashes on startup.

If it's an Open GL error screen that comes up, I can safely ignore it most times and just keep trying. It seems that none of Intel's integrated video devices support OGL. I guess that means that your CPU must do more work. Probably also why I have to set graphics to minimum.

It really is a nice game if you can get it to work.

I've just found old rivendell, but nobody is around and the irc channel is silent. So I'm off to sleep, hopefully I will catch someone on tomorrow.
