The Cooking Guild (Succession)
« on: November 09, 2008, 10:43:41 am »

Hello, I am Plank of Wood, your freindly local building material.

Rules

The theme of this succession game is A cooking guild, basicly, our only export is food, beer or meat. The Millatary is kept at a bear minimum, with only a small squad of proffesional soldiers. Fishermen, hunters, farmers, brewers and cooks are the main workforce. No more than a sixth of the cooking related workforce may be masons, miners, carpenters or metal crafters. In cases of emergancy, up to a quarter of the number of cooks can be drafted into the millitary. If there were 60 cooking or food gathering related jobs, for example, only 15 dwarves in total may be drafted.
There must be a dwarf with the soap maker labor enabled, and there must be a supply of soap in the fortress somewhere. It may be either imported or made from excess tallow.

For every for dwarves, one may become a non-cooking related worker, two must become food-related gatherers and the remainder must be cooks or brewers.

If the food or alcohol reaches over a thousand, all surplus must be traded away. You may import any goods you wish.

For Bonus Points! : D

(Optional!)
- Build a Pasture with a fence dedecated to livestock
- Create as many varieties of roasts as possible!
- Go through your entire turn without using a single plump helmet

This Succession is entirely to screw around with a retarded concept, lets see how far we get without being slaughtered!

I'll take a stab.  Are we going to have the restrictions lifted a little in the begining, or do we have to deal with few initial workers?

I'd like to play.  Industrial style forts are my favorite kind.

What's the embark profile going to look like? I assume we'll be dumping the anvil in favor of bringing a source of meat.

EDIT: Or on second thought, add some insanity by keeping the anvil and doing it with kittens?

Rather then just have biscuits, roasts, and stews...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

just a thought.

Either way, I'll try this.

Yeah, if ever a fort demanded the TYE mod, it's this one.

This is a stack of masterfully made kitten tallow salad. It is made from masterfully minced kitten tallow, finely minced kitten tallow, exceptionally minced kitten tallow, and exceptionally minced turtle.

What?  There's greens in it...

I want in!

Also, a food mod might be good. We'd hate to get bored.

I've found a great spot. Southern half of the map is Cold, has mountians, is haunted and has a stream. Top half has Glacier, terrifying and is freezing. Combined with our suicidal objectives, this will rock. Objections?

I think we need good farming conditions.  Such as a non-edge farmable tile, and possibly an underground river or pool for underground plants.  Would be good using gathering to pick up the above ground plants as well.

I believe above ground stuff is farmable under those conditions, just in summer though, and just in the south half.  If the dwarves have to walk miles through the snow and polar bears to get to it, all the more fun.

How big is this map?  Is there any sand?
