There's no such thing as a proper pre-marital probing in Elona.
So you won't get to raise your abominations until you embrace the ultimate expression of love: a binding, legal contract.

In the meantime, I suggest you drink some dye or poison to get rid of it.

Ouch, well, there are some things you can do without giving up on your character.

Tell your impregnated pet to wait at town, you can pick her up after you've acquired a potion of poison/dye/acid.

Next wish you get, wish for a "deed" which should give you a deed of cozy house. If you have the money, you could just buy one from the embassy.

Your house has a limit to how many items you can drop in it. You could pick up all the junk and drop it in the wilderness somewhere or get a bigger house(lotsa' money)/storage house(~10k), AKA, more space.

If you need some storage space on the cheap, finish the Rogue's den quest in Vernis. The dungeon persists for the whole game, so you can drop stuff off there and never have it disappear. Nowadays, I only keep furniture and one or two crafting items in my house, while my potions, scrolls, zappers, etc. are all kept in Vernis.

Don't keep your best stuff there though... someone holding a very dangerous item is in Vernis, and you don't want to be locked away from your loot.

Hi guys, I'm really interested in this game and will start playing once I get my laptop back in a week.

I need some questions to be answered and it wouldn't be feasible to check this thread page by page and I couldn't find the answers on the Wiki, so I apologise if these questions have been answered before:

1) Is it possible to play with a laptop since it doesn't have NumPad? I can set the right portion of the keyboard to represent NumPad, but that may overlap with other the non-NumPad buttons used in the game.

2) Is the savegame transferrable from one version to another?

3) Does increasing an attribute provide bonus retrospectively? Say, if I increased Life at level 5, would I get bonus from it for the four level ups I've gained before?

Thanks!

@martinuzz, when the game says pregnant, think "with chestburster".  I don't think giving birth kills you though - read the wiki before I ever caught that, so I've always killed my horrible spawn before it could... well, spawn.

@Cheetar, just to note, you can stash your stuff in any persistent dungeon like that, provided you can clear them out.  Vernis also has the Slime Basement, and Yowyn has the Cat House.  I've always just used the Den, though - I'm not sure if it has a limit.  I recall on the forum or wiki that people sometimes had caches in the randomized dungeons, though since they reset like once every year or so it's probably more of a temporary thing, and you don't want to leave important stuff there.

You could also buy a storage house or wish for a dungeon, IIRC.

@Buri, regarding 2, I transferred my old save from one version to another - 1.13 to 1.16, IIRC - so, yeah, that should be doable.  Just drop it in the save folder, I think.  You'll forget where all the stuff is in towns, though - that is, all the buildings will look empty until you see the furniture and stuff again, and fruit trees will change what they give, but I don't think anything major changes.

My laptop has a numpad, so I haven't had the issue.

I haven't played in a while, but I'm pretty sure HP increases independent of level, as does pretty much everything else.  Level doesn't give much benefit except a couple skill points and feats, IIRC, and enemies scale on it, as opposed to your actual stats, or how deadly you really are.  So yeah, it's actually pretty beneficial to be low level.

I had to reformat recently, so all my characters are gone.  :(  I will miss my deathloli and her 3d12+12 claymore.

If your laptop is like mine, you can through a couple of key-strokes set a certain set of keys (JKLUIO789 I believe) to be used as a numpad. You can simply turn this off when you need to use a key occupied by the numpad.

Or, you could do like I did when I started playing NetHack on my laptop, and that is not to use the numpad, but to use the normal number row. It takes some getting used to, but you get the hang of it after a while.

Pageup/down and maybe insert/delete is for diagonal moves, or you can hold Alt to force diagonal moves.
"Birthing" wounds but i dont know how much and HP/MP increases with level but it is better to keep a low level.
Some versions might have save incompabilities but i guess it works

Any hope of ever getting a mac version?

I see a few links on google promising a mac version, but they all drag me down to a nightmare world of redirection, broken links, missing servers, and lies. The given download on the wiki definitely isn't mac compatible.

@Farce

This is quoted directly from the Wiki:

Life is the percentage of hit points you gain per level. 100 Life is the standard value for most races. Liches have 80 Life (-20% HP) and fairies have 40 Life (-60% HP).

The Ascetic feat will increase Life by 5 (+5% HP) for every feat level. Some items may increase or decrease Life.

Doesn't that mean everytime you level up, you will gain a percentage of your current HP, depending on your Life attribute? For example, if the current HP is 100, with Life of 100, when you level up, you will gain 100% x 100 = 100 and end up with 100 + 100 = 200 HP. Or do I understand the Wiki entry incorrectly?

@Myroc

I can do that as well, but I would rather avoid the hassle of toggling NumPad on/off, so is there an option to reconfigure the keys? I would like to keep NumPad on when I play the game and any keys used for it would be substituted with other unused keys. Is that possible?

Much of the wiki is poorly phrased. Life is really more of a percent modifier for hit points. Hit points are granted by several things, levels being only one of them. For example, let's say you gain one point of constitution from picking vegetables. I think that translates to 3 hp. If your life is 100, your total hp will increase by 100% of 3, so 3. If your life rating were 150, you'd get 150% of 3, so 4.5.

Ascetic has five levels. Invest one feat point, and it's a 5% bonus. Invest another, it's a 10% bonus, all the way up to a max of a 25% bonus.

Thanks, that clears it up. So if I increased Life at a certain level, I wouldn't get the bonus from the levels before that? In other words, it doesn't give bonus retrospectively?
