Just noticed, that avatar needs changing o.o

Back on topic, quick question, what is the average amount of artifacts you people find in an average game?

I have all the artifact weapons gifted by god, from dungeon final bosses and the ones you can buy with small medals. I'm fully decked out in artifacts.

This game is taking way too much of my time.

I recently at the queen's throne. She was standing around on the opposite side of Palmia. No idea why.

Cursed items cause random teleport. Towns got rerolled now and then, and sometimes they get cursed items. Or perhaps she's fighting/chasing summoned monsters.

This can often get you lucky as the cursed objects are more then capable of killing even some of the more hearty characters.

ALWAYS check out when you hear the "Someone was murdered" screen and trade with heros... if they are wearing enough "Causes bleeding" with at least 4 #s then stick around.

I think what is causing the compiler to be delayed is all of the copyrighted content and such. As such, wouldn't it be a good idea for the best artists from Bay12 to pitch in with this? Noa himself said only the panties and a few other sprites were his own.

But also, there is the matter of the scripts. I want to see them actually. And they are written in Hot Soup Processor.

I feel the need to HAX.

Crap. I somehow ended up ticking off and then killing my first maid, but she keeps showing up! I can't talk to her so I can't fire her, and she keeps giving me the evil-eye and dropping my karma.

What copyrighted content? There are some Japanese game-maker sites with huge database of sound, music and sprites for game developers to use for free. Elona uses those, isn't it?

I could try... my best is doing objects.

I am however not only not Japanese but I also don't have a base (A Square of which would be the size I am allowed) to do it in.

@Neonivek
Each item sprite is a 48x48 square with a few being double-sized.

I've been working on some of the sprites myself, but there's a lot of them and I get distracted easily.

I'm thinking maybe this should be a (Elona) community project.  It's too large for one person to handle, and I know a lot of people want to help, but I think the amount of work turns most people off from trying to do it themselves.  I have a few ideas, but I don't want to say them if no one thinks it's a good idea.

A list of sprites would be nice... as well as what race is what... (Some are rather unobvious)

Though Id also like a 48x48 grid... it just makes things easier.

Crud what is that freeware art program with the Mouse Mascot with a paintbrush in his mouth?

GIMP?

Ahh Yes GIMP. I like it because it is easier to go into Pixil art mode.

Ah, the adventurers life. Dungeon-crawling, arena battles, saving the town from monsters, and ruining people's parties so that the resulting fame doesn't bite you in the ass later.

I could help with the sprites, or attempt to, if I get some free time. When I did work with RPG Maker 2000, I used to sprite things in iDraw, though most were recolors.

With enough effort, and concentrating on a few sprites, I could come up with something.

By the by, I *did* go to the Elona forums, a while back, and Noa themself said that the scripts were kind of copy pasta, and that some of the sprites are either from an graphical rogue tileset or other sources.

If you hadn't noticed, a fair amount are actually from RPG Maker 2000 and said rogue tileset. And that some sprites are also found in Stone Soup.

Anyhow, I'll try getting some sprites put together in the near future (as in, within a few weeks at least/most). And yeah, a community project would be awesome.

Anyway, the idea I had was to divide the sprites files into individual images and host them on the wiki (or somewhere).  Then anyone who wants to contribute takes a single sprite, draws a new one, and then puts it in place of the original with their name.  This not only makes it easy to submit new sprites, but it also helps maintain the proper sprite guidelines, instead of a single large file with vague boundaries.

Example table:

image1x3.bmp
image2x1.bmpimage2x2.bmpimage2x3.bmp
