And how does one do that?

Be at a high level and have a good performer skill, the wiki reccomends waiting to preform in public till you get 30 or so in performer (You will still get killed in Vernis with that though).

On another note, is there anyway to make a caster pet good, so they don't kill themselves? I'm kind of bored having a party of one caster and a bunch of warriors and gunmen.

No, there is no way to get a good caster pet. The AI is simply too stupid for that.

You can successfully perform for some people in party time quests with about 10-15 Performing. This is a good way to level up performing because there are no consequences when you die.

Also, make sure that you only perform for the right people. These are: beggars, Citizens of the cyber dome, old people, and Mia the cat freak. You should be able to perform successfully for these people with fairly low Performance.

The largest issue overall is food. Api nuts and Healthy leaves (You forgot the leaves... they also don't rot.) force me to fight the wilderness and thus could level me up.

The best place for obtaining api nuts and healthy leaf is the road next to your house, as the easiest place to store items is your home. To keep yourself from fighting enemies when your searching for your food is to get the agile talent at the very beginning of your character generation. If you've played most rougelikes you'll know that speed is a very important thing to PCs. Also leave most of your heavy equipments behind when searching for food, remember that cargo is counted as a different weight!

And always be sure to check your audience with * if the games says that you have a zero chance of beating them in a fight, than you have a zero percent chance of sucessfully performing for them.

The elona forum isn't really worth visiting, unless you're desperately looking for penis enlargement pills.
Actually the forums are free of spam now.  They have been for a while actually.

No.

That's just a comparison of levels. Nothing to do with anything, especially performance success chance. It doesn't even take into account equipment, skills, or attributes.

He is kind of right. Your performance success is based partially on the level of the NPC.

Quote from: Wiki
Citizens who are higher level than you are "stuffier" and demand better performance; what might appease the common riffraff will earn you a swift ticket to Hell when playing near a shopkeeper. A high level citizen can usually kill you in one hit with a rock. Until you have a high performance skill in ranges of 30+, always check the strength of the people around you. Someone who is twice as strong as you will very likely throw a rock at you.

I dispute that, I almost always succeed while playing in Shops.

Screen shot or character dump of your PC.

It's a freshly rolled fairy pianist with all charisma feats.

I dispute your disputing! :P

I have played several Juere pianists in both 1.15 and 1.14 with all three charisma feats, and shopkeepers almost always murdered me.

Though I never tried playing for that specific shopkeeper, just the magic shop and general store vendor.

It is possible that NPC's have some hidden performance impress stat that I don't know about, but it always seemed to me that performance difficulty scaled approximate to level.

Version 1.15! When did this happen!?

Are past saves compatible because I'm stilll stuck in 1.13. Btw charisma talents are pretty use less for pianist and fairys, unless of course you're desperate for money. Either way, welcome to the club!

Bleh, I meant 1.13 and 1.14. The latest 1.14 beta says 1.15 on the title screen, and that threw me off. I think 1.13 saves are compatible with 1.14.

And, Creamcorn, I don't if you are talking to me or not, but I've been playing Elona for more than a few months now. :P

Thanks anyway.

Yeah, performance definitely scales to level. No matter how bad I was, my lower level pets never hurt me.

Well...  Somehow my character who I thought Id have to abandon is able to defeat the enemies who would kill him previously for absolutely no reason (It makes total sense!)

As for Performance according to the Wiki, Performance skill is related to the level of those around you.

Powerful high level individuals require tons of performance skill while pathetic weaklings could be done with relatively lower. Unfortunately the numbers to woo the high level people is very high.

Hmm I got a potion of "Cure Corruption" is that the Anti-Etherwind? (found answer it does)

Uhh any money making tips? I can't seem to gain past a certain amount
