If you summoned monsters in Vernis I believe, He whom dwells in vanity probably attacked them with ragnarok. Run away, earn money to purchase a nuke, carry it to Vernis, and level the town. Yes you will go to negative 100 karma and probably gain a couple of levels, but the town will regenerate.

...and probably gain a couple of levels...

Ah, Elona, the only game I've played where it's a frantic race to NOT level up. Also note that while the nuke deals lots and lots of damage, it might not deal enough damage... I remember seeing an image on another message board of someone who died like fifteen times to something in Vernis, then died from a nuke, then died another time to the thing in Vernis shouting "Why didn't that work?!"

Nukes don't cover the whole town if placed on the edge. In order to cover the town you need to put it near the center. Otherwise the mobs can survive. It is odd how levels in this game just make it harder and don't really do anything to help you survive.

Well, health points and feats are the only reasons to continue gaining levels. The first is dependent on your stats, though, so staying low for a long time is more beneficial in the long run, as I don't believe that improvements to your con are retroactive.

I don't say skill points, because you get those for levelling up, regardless of whether or not you have gotten that level before, so one could just keep at getting a level, drinking a potion of descent, relevel, another potion, etc etc and continue gaining skills. Problem is, as far as I can tell, potions of descent are just as rare as cure corruption...

They are much rarer. Potions of cure corruption are fairly easy to obtain. Wait till you get the lucky day bonus, head to the nearest casino, and win 4-5+ hands of blackjack with a 1 token bet. You should get one each time you break 5 wins plus some other crappy equipment.

Not really... I mean, the name sucks and all it is is a girdle. I want some good ol' plate armor!

Ah, Elona, the only game I've played where it's a frantic race to NOT level up.
You obviously never REALLY maxed out a character in morrowind (oblivion seems to work the same, as far as i can tell by now)

How do you get past the attribute selection screen? I've locked two attributes and I'm ready to move on but it won't let me.

Look more carefully at the screen... it should have told you which key you need to press.

IIRC it is something non-intuitive like Esc.

esc sends me back.
I can't seem to find any other buttons to press that don't lock or reroll.

Wait, there's a proceed button.
Darn my idiocy.

I thought you were trolling, but I was going to point out the proceed button  ;)
The screen after you customized your appearance (which ALSO has a strangely placed proceed button imho) is the counter intuitive one: with ENTER you reroll your height/weight/age (i think) and the usual CANCEL button (shift, esc and something on the gamepad) CONFIRMS the selection.

Oh and while were at it.. by now I would be glad if the online funcionality of the program would work properly. I'm totally drunk and I'd love to run around in the game, talking to people who also dont really know why they love playing this crap so much  ;D
