Have aphrodisiacs(sp?) ready.
In other news, I now have a stockpile of cure corruption potions, but I unfortunately lost my katana that causes chaos damage (which in turn causes ailments galore).

As for other things, I now have a machine gun that helps slow leveling by making you lose experience points.

That is by far the greatest single machine gun I have ever seen.

Unless it levels firearms down. Then it sucks.

Go for the god weapons... they are far better than random loot.

Then go for the artifacts (at the bottom of those fixed dungeons)... they are very useful. I was able to get some of the artifacts around level 20.

With god weapons and artifacts combined, I have max resistance in nearly all types (and I can switch to deal with a certain foe).

Also, don't waste wishes one stupid things. First wish you get, you ARE REQUIRED TO WISH FOR SEVEN LEAGUE BOOTS. They are innncreeedddiibllly useful and are the only way to effectively do the noyel missions that are under 9 days.

Hiya I got advised to go on the Elona thread to ask questions so here I am :)

Great game, very hard - I actually take incremental backups of my saves lol because the lvling for missions is way off

Anyway Im a lich mage, I have a little girl as my pet, how do I get her to like attack in the front lines? Its just I kinda need a meatshield lol especially being a mage but they only seem to attack easy targets.

Also where can I go to recruit a real tank for my party that doesnt cost the earth? have about 4k at the minute

one thing that i noticed with pets is they attack only what goes for you, or you're attacking typically.

this means though, that if you target one (using * to do so, i think.) they'll rush toward that target to attack them.

as far as your little girl though, go to derphy, try and buy some kind of jurea swordsman or something, do the mission to help the scientist guy in port kapul to get the gene machine, place it in your house (remove something first to let you do so, if you must.) and then get the gene engineering skill from a trainer, buy a bunch of cheap pets when you can and splice them to improve your skill.

eventually, you'll be able to splice alsorts of things to make tough pets with access to skills and body slots they normally don't have. non-human bodied pets have to be combined with other non-human bodied pets however, to gain an additional body part slot from the 'donor' creature. hence why i have a quickling with full regular body slots.

Just remember, your mage may not be viable for too long, but if you can marry a pet and 'create a gene' you can use said gene when starting a new character, to gain bonus starting skill points and such (i think.) and later use inheritence scrolls (if your lich had anything worth using this for.) to 'inherit' (essentially copy for your character, your lich'd still have it.) any items of value. artifacts, seven league boots, stuff like that's good to inherit.

IIRC you cannot inherit items marked with the "It is precious" property... which I think many artifacts have.

mostly unique quest reward artifacts have that tag, that and the ones from unique bosses, too.
randarts you get from escort quests, dungeon crawling chests, etc, are usually fair game.

i'm going to go make a mage now, and see what kind of impact the dual shields and firearm kind of thing'd have on my play style. just as soon as i grab some shields off my pianist's pets so i can inherit some moderately good ones early on.

I remember that once I equiped one of my mages with a cross-bow, his casting ability went down.

Also, pixies might have a lot of magic and charm,
but a firearm
that weights more than a stone
is as useful as a bone
for it cannot be weild
and no proper fallback weapon ensures you will be felled.

Poetic, ain't it.

Just a couple tips:
1. If you need some cards or figures for your museum, take a beauty and the beast quest. Whenever a group
assasians ambushes you, the will be led by a named monster. Named monsters (like <mad scientist>) always drop a corpse, figure, a card and some items. Just be prepared for the karma loss if your client dies.

2. You can (G)et snow from snowy ground and use it to make snowmen of various materials like wood or glass.

3. Quicklings ROCK. They have amazing speed and good stats. The only bad part is that they have low hitpoints. But it doesn't really matter due to their sweet dodging ability. Whenever bandits rob you, or you get ambushed you can just run away. They'll hardly even move. Infact, I can almost slaughter the bandits. The only ones that get me are the archers/gunmen.

As has been noted, it is impossible to dodge magic. Your enemies can only miscast.

And magic users own quicklings because of that. And spear traps will occasionally hit you, usually killing you instantly.

Quicklings are awesome at first, but go with something with higher HP if you want to live past level 20.

My apologies if this has already been posted, but is there a link somewhere on how to use ArtMoney with Elona? Or does the normal method of looking up values work?

Erm.

Artmoney is pretty explanitory.  It helps to know what the values of the thing you're attempting to change is.

Fer example: Mana, health, moola (both gold and silver coins).  Heck, you can even get more of something by checking the amount of it in your inventory.  If ya only got one, try dropping it.

Mostly using Artmoney is a matter of finding an initial value, using Artmoney to check for that value, CHANGING THE VALUE TO SOMETHING ELSE, 'filtering' for the new value.

Um.  That's that, I think for using artmoney.
