Isn't that true for goblins also?

And I'm pretty confident I had 5 wins in a row and didnt get a potion? Am I just wrong there?

5 1-chip bets at Blackjack should do the trick.

EDIT: You have to win five times in a row, though.

Speaking of which, is there a more efficient way of finding chips/yen than just {s}earching in all those harvest spots and hoping for the best?

Goblin and Juere will get more materials from gathering spots... plus having the right skill helps.

Buying slaves in Derphy and marrying them is really the easiest (and the only totally reliable) repeatable way to get potions of cure corruption. The easiest not repeatable is the main quest. A semi-repeatable way is to buy a potion for 10 small medals in a certain place.

Tell me more about marrying slaves, please. Also... can I get rid of them afterwards?

You can sell your wives for a karma hit. And by the time you marry you'll be near death anyway, at least if you constantly manage to be in the middle of nowhere during an ether storm.

I started to carry a blessed shelter around with me. 12 stones extra is manageable weight, if you
a) wear light armour
b) survive because of doing so.

If it pays off, well it will show.

edit: how big of a karma hit are we talking for selling them? and is the guy that buys em the one in... now where was it... port kapul?

1. Get them to like you.
Either give them 'engagement' anything (you will never be able to get the item back) or let them kill stuff and not be killed for a while. Repeatably stepping into Puppy cave L1, looking around yourself from the stairs and stepping out if nothing 'engagement'/easily killable by the pet is found - is an option.
2. Talk to them and propose marriage.
3. Get their equipment back and dispose of them
You can sell your spouse (of any gender and race/type) to a man in Port Kapul. I don't currently remember if you can use gene machine on them or any other options.

What would be the effects of keeping them as my partner? Or should I just look it up on the wiki?
Can I marry different folks at once? You know, I somewhat like the idea of going around as a machinegunnin farmer with 5 bitches as entourage

From this point the best way is to experiment yourself, really.
And you don't want to read the wiki or forums about the ranch concept.  :o

Etherwind only comes at the start (day 1 - 15) of a month divisible by 3. It's totally predictable... so no need to haul a shelter with you, just plan your actions around that time, and teleport back to home or stay inside dungeons mining the whole level out, and don't come out until it's over.

When Etherwind comes, you still need to stay outside for the time used to construct the shelter, then a bit more time to open and enter it. The weight is not worth it.

Oh and even when you are never exposed to Etherwind (after the intro), you will still very slowly get Ether diseases. Think of it as a background magical radiation. You avoided the storm, but you're still soaked in some of it.

It take a long time and much effort to marry your pets/slaves, but it's a repeatable process for potions of cure corruption.

You need to have really, really high reaction with your pets.
1) Take them with you and let them kill stuff. They will show a heart bubble when their reaction go up.
2) Don't let them die. They hate dying. Stay close to them (a leash is helpful here), and talk to them when they are in trouble. Tell them to wait at town, and they will *poof* be out of danger instantly. Then go back and retrieve them.
3) Give them "engagement" rings or amulets. But beware, they can only hold so much items in inventory, and they will prefer using these gifts instead of useful ones. Plus you cannot take these gifts back - they will instead swallow it in anger (with reaction drop too).
4) Give them food laced with love potion. You get karma hit (-10 IIRC) for +50 reaction.

You get to marry them when their reaction goes up beyond a level. At first it will be a text, like "Hate" or something. Later at very high levels it will instead give you a bunch of question marks. IIRC you can marry them at "Soulmate ???" level.

You can marry as many times as you want... no need to divorce first. And you can marry *anything* you want, even a putit. Or another human of same gender.

Well, I knew about the background radiation and the time it needs to place the shelter, but since I rather tend to run into the etherwind than to predict it (even while knowing when it comes) I still think carrying around the shelter is somewhat useful... maybe I should just strategically place shelters around the map.

And thanks for the tons of useful info on the marriage.

In that case, keep an eye for scrolls of feather. It is rare and expensive, but you can use it on your items to reduce its weight by a certain percentage. I like using them on beds... my character is taking a happy bed with her to get nice dreams everywhere.

I think you can use material scrolls to change the item type as well, you might end up with something lighter.

Hi Everyone.

This is my first post on here.  I have been reading you guys for months.  I started playing Elona a while ago.  I just bought my first shop.  I was just wondering how you find good companions to run your shop.

Thanks again for all of the good game suggestions.  You guys have made my computer gaming much more enjoyable.

Shop shouldn't be your first purchase. Either a storage shed, a bigger house, or a museum should be your first deed purchase. For a good companion, try the little girl or a genespliced putit.
