Massive luck bonus. If you haven't already, go to the casino and burn your first ten chips one at a time with that bonus to get gear and cure corrupt pots.
Is there a casino in Vermjin (what's the 1st city name)?

No head to either palmia or derphy, both are about the same distance and the buff shouldnt run out before you get there.

You can 'i'nteract with any npcs. It includes giving items.

As for starting talents, I tip you not to pick luck unless you're sure that's what you want. There are things a lot better for you pick up there. Besides, two mica rings and you have nearly the same luck bonus as the talents. Also, you can pick those talents later, you get a feat every 5 levels to a total of 13 feats. (not sure what's the limit, I think I read something about level 35 somewhere, but I dunno, gotta check the wiki)

And I'm not sure why you guys have so much problem with money, I make 200k easily to buy a shop, then it's non-stop income. Even with my known faery pianist that has problem with dungeons.

Actually picking luck makes things much easier. Especially in not contacting nasty curses.

Doesn't seem to make much of a difference to me. I'd rather have the stats, +hp/mp, or +pv/dv. At level ~10 you get potions of cure mutation/corruption like they were nothing and their prices are actually very very cheap compared with some other things. *eyes the godly platinum double bed*

I'm not saying luck isn't good, perhaps if you're finding the game to be too difficult it may help. But consider other talents first. +con or +str makes the game really really easy if you're a fighter type. +cha and +stamina if you're a pianist, at a certain point you can play to shopkeepers and actually get a lot of invested money back.

I recommend luck if you're playing a farmer/fisherman. If makes a huge difference in that case.

Also, get a maid for your house whenever you can, she/he allows adventurer and special npcs to visit your home, meaning you can do trading and some times guild trainers visit you, so you can increase your stat potential.

I checked the wiki when I got home, you get +10 talents from levels. So you get talents up to level 50.

My warrior is now level 8... but unlike what I've read here, I couldn't go any deeper than level 4 or 5 in the Puppy Dungeon.

Maybe I was doing it wrong? Raising the wrong skills and not knowing what equipment is good?

I've uploaded my save here (Elona version 1.13):
http://rapidshare.de/files/40169861/sav_Kacy.zip.html
I have a small pile of weak items in the starting cave too.

1) Would you take a look at my character and tell me what I'm doing wrong?

2) How to deal with slimes? Their acid hurt a lot... I tried my best to kill them with ranged weapons, but the killing speed was too low to match their movement speed.

late on topic: Jack Thompson (SORRY for lateness)

However Jack is getting ass-raped by the bar association for calling them gay - and this whole - abusing his lawyer status (bar!)

some one mentioned him - I though I would mention of his demise - he was a huge anti-gaming lawyer- who sued virtually everybody.

Oh he's dead then? I thought the article was about him being in court or something.

Anyway, I got a Little Sister Diary. She's so cute. ^_^

I'm pretty sure he's not dead in real life.  Though there are a few web games out there that kill him I'm sure.  He's just a real idiot anti-gaming lawyer is all.

How do I use a portable shelter? I press "t" to build mine on the world map, but then both "t" and "space" just bring me to the map of that tile of the world map, with creatures around and Etherwind blowing.

Ed: I found out how to use the shelter in my home. Still figuring out how to use it in the world map...

You can use it in the "tiles" or in any town, just like in your home: you just need to not be in travel mode.

Thanks Floirt. I think it's because it works with the space key inside your house. I did the same in the world map, which is default for entering that map. So to use a shelter built on world map, press the "t" button again.

I'm level 9 now, both attack and evade chance are at around 80%. Very little progress though - only completed the Puppy Dungeon, and a Danger Level 1 Beginner's Dungeon. I hit a road block if I continue the main quest.

Tax is painful :'(  I'm paying around 4000 gold now. My purse can contain anywhere from 9000 to under 1000 gold... I don't see how I will ever get enough for a ranch/house/museum, with those bloody thieves... and the shops don't want to give me a kitty bank. :'(

Carrying the shelter and icebox pushes me into the first level of burdened - I'm saving up enough coins to get the weight-lifting skill. I've purchased two other skills before, Lock Picking and Anatomy.

I just remembered that I had an old character and decided to import him. I was surprised that it worked, and only has to reenter the/an area.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

His ranged weapon of choice is, yes, a bone panty.
