Yep, she did. But was killed on the next level by a <named> creature. Blue bishop, I think. At least I captured a cupid. Gotta check its breeding power to replace my little girl ranch. =p

I got killed too many times to count... my little girl got killed even more. Now I have to wander the land killing random grassland and forest critters to make her feel better. Very little XP that way, but with the corpses and plants, at least I won't starve.

Those beginner's towers are so not for beginners...

You don't gain xp from killing creatures. You gain xp from using your weapon and gaining a lil bit of skill with it. I have a level 8 faery pianist right now. She does all beginner dungeons up to level 7ish easily. Once you have decent equipment and a good pet, you're set. You just need to know when to use potions and wands. Wand (whatever it's called) of teleport is your best friend.

I think that's the problem I'm facing. I couldn't afford the equipment with really high numbers, because on one side the ID price is dragging me down, and on the other, I couldn't find enough easy quests to do. That's why I go kill random critters, hoping for body parts to sell.

My characters (Warrior mostly) also failed to properly use a wand. So I end up just selling them all after ID.

Also, I found the wiki to be out-dated... those "I want" quests are NOT easy... I have no idea what the NPCs want in return. Even a several hundred wand/scroll is not good enough for your fried potatoes?  :-\

Try grenades if you're not using a pet. ;)

Swords with bleeding/poison effects are also pretty good. Buying a pokeball and taming a scorpion is also a good deal for a newbie.

As for money, do delivery and escort quests. Some times you get lucky and you can get like 5 of them all to the same place. That's real easy money. And the 'want' quests, the items that show in the -trade- screen are the items the npc will take for the item you want. Trading with adventurer npcs is one of the easiest ways of acquiring good equipment. Shops only pay 10% of the value, while trade considers full price. So you can some times trade a scroll of oracle for a damn good weapon/armor.

That's the problem. I have many semi-expensive stuff (Good weapons, scroll of oracle, etc.) in my inventory and they want none of it. I just want their fried potatoes or a piece of ore. :-[

I have another question: Are there secret doors and passages in dungeons?

My latest character couldn't find the down stairs to level 3 in the first main quest. Its layout is weird - lots and lots of dead-end tunnels and diagonal passageways. I've already walked through all of them... do I need that Detection skill?

The dead-end tunnels usually mean the passage is hidden. Stand at the end of the tunnel and keep pressing enter to search till you find the passage, if it doesn't show up after a good 20-30 tries, then it's probably not there.

This game is the pinnacle of Nippon's pop tradition!

Is it?

If so, how Jack Thompson react to this? (It's free, it's for EVERYONE, It has no corp. to *donate* money to him to make him shut up)

Discuss, friends.

I'm still surprised that Jack Thompson hasn't notably attacked Fallout yet.

There are and you don't need it. But in your case, the down stair in that dungeon at level 3 is locked until you talk to the king and continue your quest.
