Anybody got a map?  I'm trying not to die of starvation, and I want to know where all the cities are so I can actually tell if an escort/delivery mission is going to be harder than I thought.

Also, little girls seem to be very powerful pets.  They last longer than my "grizzry" bear pets, anyways.

This game is almost as entertaining to read about as DF.   :)

I think I'm starting to warm to this game.  Who said parents don't give a shit about their kids?

They really should've slapped some restrictions on what is a good gift and what isn't...   I had one crazy old woman ask me to get her a web, which so far as I know is impossible to retrieve.

I've been giving this game a spin for the last couple days. So far it seems that delivery missions (where you just have to take something to an NPC in another city) are the easiest way to make gratuitous quantities of money. If you screw up a mission, though, you lose a crap load of karma. It seems that if you lose too much, you're labelled a criminal and guards attack you on sight.

My character recently hit level six and now has to pay taxes. Unfortunately, I don't know how to pay taxes, so I can only assume this will end with me taking Karma hits for tax evasion and an eventual guard led massacre.

The game's been quite fun so far, though I suspect it'd be way better if it were completely translated. Hopefully they'll keep working on that.

Poor Ozodath's kid. Must not be a very loving family.

Taxes, huh? Hrm. Maybe there's a mayor somewhere. There's a King in Palmia, but I doubt you'd take the money right to him... The delivery missions are handy for cash but they often ask me to deliver to some nameless citizen who can be *anywhere* in the town.

That's true (and sometimes frustrating) about those delivery quests, but they always have a little arrow over their head, indicating that they are the quest target.

Hmm, on the town structure, there is a post for Tax Collector. Too bad it's always empty. There's also village elders, who I haven't spoken to recently.

Edit: Figured it out! There's a tax box at the embassy north of Palmia. You insert the tax bill there and pay your taxes.

Thanks, Teriferin! I didn't know the target had an arrow- I was 'l'ooking at every NPC in the area. I'd be more happy about knowing how to pay taxes if I ever got to level six, heheh.

My latest Warrior is doing somewhat well. Warriors aren't a particularly interesting class, but they reliably destroy enemies. From the looks of the game engine, I can probably spend a lot of money on learning magic and make up for that anyway. Gotta find a way to boost my magic stat- my warrior has 4MP, which isn't useful for anything.

Edit: Wow. Ten thousand gold and 3 platinum coins. Thanks for the advice. The game really doesn't want you to go all gung-ho dungeon crawling until you get on your feet, huh? When you have a bit of an idea where to go and what to do (and what NOT to do) the game is quite fun.

Edit II: Oh crap. If the weather changes to "Ether wind", find an inn and get to the shelter FAST. I think I just caught the ether disease, which is apparently a major pain to cure.

Etherwind diseases are a mix of benefits and  penalties from what I've seen. One of my previous characters sprouted feathers and grew an enlarged head because I stayed out in Etherwind too long. You can buy a shelter from some vendors, and if you speak to innkeepers, they will give you the option of going to a shelter where you can wait out the etherwind. Have you figured out how to cure diseases?

Another Question: Has anyone located Derphy or Nuyel? They seem to be off the beaten track, as the roads don't lead to them.

Yeah, I experienced the ether winds as well.  Grew some feathers and had my legs twisted.  I'm now a bandy-legged birdman.

I drink up all the water from every well I find, and stay out in ether winds.

It's fun to be a super powerful mutant with only some kickbacks (such as the lowered dexterity and strength from some mutations), but be a Golem and it's great.

I was surprised when I found out that golems have to eat.  I was kinda expecting they'd have a bit more distinction from the other races than just having high strength and whatnot...

I think they're developing other distinct characteristics of races, especially with eating habits and the like, along with Character pictures.

From what I gathered from the Japanese Wiki and Google's Auto-Translate, the ether wind disease can be cured with an appropriate potion: it's very rare in stores and sells for a fortune (90,000g?)

The main quest also gives you one early on but it's untranslated and I'm not sure if we can actually access it in the English beta.

When talking to NPCs, the red faces under "Impress" are actually negative. My pet has killed so many enemies that the red faces are being replaced with increasing blue faces.

I found the town of Derphy: if you head far west from Vernis, the mining town, you'll hit the port city that I forgot the name of. Maybe it was Kapul? Derphy is located slightly east of the port and a bit south.

I think I'll assemble a map in a few hours, if I can.

Edit: The Japanese Wiki has a map already, so I just added in the English names of the major towns I stumbled across. You can find it here. It's incomplete but should make the jobs easier.
