I wonder if you can get gems and gold from the side of a boat...

yep! Though towns and cities give you standard amount of gold (Though they can give you all the ores. which is probably based off of mining)

Dungeons give you it based off of how deep you go. So far I seen that level 5 or lower gets you 100. So Digging isn't a good source of income.

Even without any mining skills I generally get about 100 gold on the first floor of lvl 4 dungeons. You know the annoying ones where you have to dig to get to the stairs.

I haven't been in a level 4 dungeon, but do you know that some walls that you can dig through can also be removed just by searching? In games like zAngband, if you tried to tunnel into a secret door that looked like a wall it immediately showed that it was actually a door. In this game, it'll let you tunnel like it's a wall until you search and figure out it's a secret passageway, at which point the wall disappears.

I meant that I think the chances of getting a Ore (or other gems) COULD be based on mining skill. I doubt it though I probably just got lucky.

This will be time consuming to test. My first character had little in mining and low strength and took forever to mine, and I never got any good returns.

My current character is a dwarf miner with relatively high strength and takes much less time to mine. I can't say the returns are better though because I didn't really do enough mining with a character that wasn't good at it to tell. It makes sense that higher mining skill would increase your chance for finding valuable ores.

On the topic of ore, if I identify those pieces of ore, is there a chance they will become something like mica or emeralds? Or are they just what they are... ore?

I cheated a character to about 500 mining, found no increase in gem/gold returns (though gems seem to be a little more frequent), just faster digging.

Goodness... Riding worked like a freeken Miracle on my character!

Just to tell you the difference. I went from Speed 40 to Speed 90+

I don't know how to dismount however... I need to find that out.

Just use your riding skill on your square.

Tried that. It didn't seem to work.

Bah-dum-psh.

Maybe your horse is cursed? =P

Can luck go higher than three?

I maxed my luck feat, and I have an item that boosts luck by 3. Is it useless?

As far as I know, there is no maximum amount of luck, and three luck feats raises your luck by a lot more than three.

AFAIK, the luck feats each raise your luck by 5. There's an item you can get called the happy apple as well, which raises it by 20

The only time I have felt well and truly fucked in this game was when I accidentally summoned a bunch of monsters well out of my range into my own home.

As it is, I fucked up on a bunch of quests and all the town guards shoot me on sight due to my very negative karma. I'm working it up via random events in dungeons, cooking fruit and meat I hunt and gather on my stove (which I luckily bought before I went unlawful), and working on the main quest at the same time.

Good times.
