Unless you have a lot of luck, or the beggars pendant, it is hard to win the battle of attrition against the malicious hand. When I am saving up for something, I try to use kitty banks. If you are only carrying a small percentage of your gold then you won't lose very much to death or the malicious hand.

For making money, "Before it's too late!" quests are my favorite.

I think it's a vastly amusing thought that elephants are so afraid of heights that when Dwarves invented the Z-axis, they couldn't bear to face dwarves in combat anymore.

Especially since they don't involve assasines.

Hmm I got a potion of "Cure Corruption" is that the Anti-Etherwind? (found answer it does)
You FOUND one? I envy you.

I also tend to go with the "Before it's too late" quests. And deliveries. I also occasionally go hunting, whenever i feel for spilling bloooood.

Well I took Luck as my first feat.

So I get chips once in a while. Which is how I got two of them.

Darnit. I usually take Tough and Sexy among my first feats, since it gives me more HP and lets me have more slaves "fellow adventurers".

Won another potion of cure corruption at blackjack. I also got some beneficial mutations, such as a charisma increase and a resistance to magic. And i got two artifact weapons.

I'm happy.

I only have artifact gloves... My equipment stinks.. I used to have a GREAT Katana but an enemy put a curse on it (sorta) that gave it a penelty to damage so great that I do no damage with it anymore. They also did it to my decent dagger.

Now I am dual Wielding Scimitars.

I really gotta find better equipment.

Trading oracle scrolls and whatnot to Adventurers is the best way to get kick-ass gear, seriously. My pianist has nearly only artifact equipment (I think the only thing which isn't is a perl scythe or something like that).

Also, before fighting corrosive stuff, dip your weapon into those acidproof potions you can buy in shops. No more rust!

I found this game because of this topic and have lost so many days that may otherwise have been productive to it. D:

I've just started my second try character, a Eulderna Warmage. "The Falcon Vidofnir". Currently dual weilding wakizashis, mostly because I found this comparitively awesome one right off the bat at level 2 or so (4d5+1 and does ice damage, that's awesome for me okay). I'm level 9 now and doing worlds better than my old character.

I have a couple of questions:
First: I'm thinking of worshipping Ehekatl, but the passive ability that "randomizes mana cost" sort of puts me off. Does that mean sometimes i'll pay more than the normal mana cost for a spell? Or is it only randomly lower than usual, or what?

Second: I currently have no companions because on my first character they were constantly dying and I couldn't keep up with paying to bring them back. That's annoying. :/
How/where would I go about getting pets who can actually survive as well (or better) than I can?

Also: You should hoard your casino coins until you get a lucky day. That's what I did, and I won 10+ times in a row twice and walked away with 2 potions of cure corruption and about 5 pieces of "Great" equipment.
So I'm assuming it helps.

Recently, I've been playing Brill, looking for some more engagement items to marry one of my allies and make a gene. I took a drink out of a well in Vernis order to see if I could get yet another good mutation (I'm actually pretty sure I managed to save-scum my way to having all the good ones at max) and suddenly, a Disciple of Fire pops out. I thought no problem, I'll just kill him. I guess this was a super disciple, because I just couldn't hit the sunova bitch. A couple of turns spent flailing at him with my Diablo and he decides to summon a horde of Fire Dragons, Flame Hounds, Drakes, Fire Ents, and even some Red Putits for good measure.

Take note, Brill is practically invincible, and has been so for a long time now, so the last thing I was worried about was death, what I was worried about was all of my equipment. I still haven't managed to fireproof all of my important artifacts.

So I book it. I ran east, hoping they'd run into good Old <WDiV> and he'd just wipe them all out for me.

Lo and behold, he's dead. Nothing near him, no monster, just his dead body, card, figure, and all of his rather amazing equipment. Needless to say I took it all and ran out of Vernis.

So now I've got all of his equipment and a pretty screwed Vernis, I already managed to blow up Vernis to kill off an Alien infestation once. But I really don't care about them anymore anyways.

What sucks though is that you can't Dual wield Ragnarok and Diablo at the same time, they're not different enough in weight to be effective (I get a 99% hit with the one in my main hand and a 66% hit chance with the other, making it pretty useless for the purposes of killing these extremely strong monsters that I run into all the time, because actual hit chance are somewhere around 70% and 30%, and I'd rather just have my shield instead of the other sword if it's never going to hit). So I just carry them both around. I'm looking for a material changing kit in order to see if I can make one of them super heavy or super light.
