Turn 1, Spring 1955.
1. Seize Malange
Military: Action+Stealth
The ASVAG sent a couple of 'diplomats' to the Malange governor's office, to let them know of the new 'arrangment' in store. Threats were made, but the Malange governor wouldn't budge. The governor felt secure within his position, having ruled Malange as his own personal fiefdom while paying nominal loyalty to the Portugese government, and wouldn't dare to give up his freedom to anybody, not even the Germans.
Luckily for the ASVAG, the rest of the Portugese elite were not as arrogant. Together, they cooperated in a plan to posion the Governor, which was proven to be a remarkable success. With the death of the governor, martial law was duly declared, and Malange fell into the hands of the ASVAG.
Action successful, Malange seized.
2. Seize Lunda Sul
Lunda Sul appeared to be going well. The governor of Lunda Sul quickly gave into the Germans and furthermore transferred total control over the region. Later on, it quickly dawned on the Germans that the reason the governor gave up Lunda Sul is due to an terrible tribal insurgency that has already taken root there.
The ASVAG did what they did best. They slashed and burnt the entire forest, looking for any suspicious looking African who might be supporting the insurgency and killing them off. Despite an over-reliance on Beligan intelligence, the insurgency did appear to die down, at least enough for the Germans to establish a foothole. The unpopular policies by the Germans, however, may mean the insurgency might reoccur in the future.
Action successful, Lunda Sul seized. Lunda Sul insurgency is dormant.
3. Petition Belgian and Portuguese Authorities for Funding
Research: Military
It was easy to convince people of the dangers of foriegn influence. It was harder to convince people that the Germans were the only ones that can save them. The ASVAG officers usually had to deal with stingy authorities who desired to spend money to defend their own assets. The only people who did donate were those who realized that if they did not donate, they would likely be killed by the ASVAG. These donations soon began to experience an uptick after the conquests of Lunda Sul and Malange, but ASVAG did not meet all of its fundraising goals.
No success.
1. Seize Cabinda.
"Anatoly Yang?" the puppet whined.
Yang only stared at the puppet, which was a sign that the puppet must either speak or get out of his face.
"Cabinda...has...been liberated. There were reactionary thugs who resisted, but they were very unpopular and were rejected by the general population. That is all I have to say."
What the puppet didn't say was that the unprepared and ill-equipped military suffered massive casualities as a result of these 'thugs', organized under the banner of the Front For the Liberation of Cabinda (FLEC).
This organization claimed that Cabinda is very different from that of the Angolan mainland, and thus should be a seperate, indepedent nation. FLEC proved much more organized and loyal than the PFP's molty band. The puppet remarked quietly to himself that it was the sheer disregard for the life of the PFP's own goons, as well as support from the Soviet Union, that led to Cabinda being conquered. Knowing that they cannot sustain a ground war against a relentless foe, FLEC went into hiding, waiting to begin their crusade once more.
Action successful, Cabinda seized. FLEC insurgency is dormant.
1. Recruitment
Military: Generation
Luandino Vieira proved to be a somewhat capable speaker, and his belief in humane government, actually made him fairly popular amongst the population. When the time came to recruit, however, most refused. The common consesus was that while Luandino Vieira was a great man, that his cause would be doomed, and that it is better to wait for survival. Still, Luandino Vieira was able to cobble up a small defense force, altough their loyalty is not as high as Vieira liked them to be.
1 Military Unit generated.
Oh boy...well, the dice went against you all these times, so you get the same result you had before. Sorry.
1. Try to invest in my black ops
Research: Military
The lack of any effective organzation of the ATC hampered in the main goal of boosting the Path of Logic. Attempts was made to use profits from the arms trade in order to boost the black ops, but corruption still remain a problem. Various commanders sought to redirect any aid into their own Swiss Bank Accounts rather than to improve their forces.
No success.
2. Seize Huambo
Without any truly effective armed forces, the ATC realized that its only hope in containing the tribal insurgency is to bribe or blackmail local tribes to intervene on their side. However, many people were not willing to accept the paltry sums of cash the ATC was willing to offer.
Eventually, all the tribes came together in the "Huambo Conference", including the one tribe that was causing 'trouble' in the Huambo mines. The goal of this conference was to unite the tribes together so that they remain indepedent of both ATC and foriegn rule. Some proposals was hashed out and sent to the ATC for approval, but it is likely it will be rejected.
The Conference's proposals are as followed: The ATC will leave Huambo alone and will guarrante its surivial and protection [in other words, you receive 0 Economic Points]. In return, the Huambo tribes will lend their own forces to assist the ATC (i.e., you will receive a new 'Military Unit', controlled by the Huambo tribes).
3. Develop industry unit
Problems of corruption within the Path of Logic, the 'local troubles' within Huambo, and the spread of disease...all meant that the ATC's reluctance to address any of these issues, and instead try to fatten their pockets made the ATC very unpopular amongst the general population. But without any source of income or foreign aid, developing industry proved to be pointless.
No success.
Superpowers' turns to come tommorow (Germany, USA, USSR).
