Boltslaughter - Community fortress
« on: November 02, 2008, 02:00:34 pm »

The basic plan of the fort will be the original seven and their children are the only dwarfs that the fort will hold. Ever. Should this fort last long enough for nobles we might make separate accommodations for them. All migrants will be killed on sight. Everyone starts as a peasant. You will almost certainly become legendary in multiple skills. But you will have to get in quick, or you will have to wait a while for someone to spit out a baby.

None available currently.

The Taken Dwarves

Feearg:

Martian:

William:

Hawkfrost:

Scintoth:

Cookie:

Atis is the Expedition Leader.

I would like to join as a Craftsdwarf named Sunny.
I'll take Kogan.

Make her paranoid and awkward with others.
Oh, and everything she likes, so do I.

Oh my lord, on closer look, she is almost exactly like me.

Sword-Dwarf. Keep him on something useful until you get a Military going. Otherwise, I call dibs of Perma-Military by the time you get it going. No Militia for my dude.

Name: William
Profession: Swordsdwarf (Military)
Hobby: Collecting heads

Sazir likes steel. He might be a good choice for a weaponsmith/armoursmith. But I'd like to have him as a miner/future soldier if that's okay. But if not please give me Atis as a stonecrafter (for trade goods)/novice negotiator/novice appraiser/novice judge of intent/miner

Ok, so Here is how it stands so far:

Onul was taken by sonerohi, feel free to choose another dwarf Hawkfrost.
Sazir was claimed by Martian, sir diesalot feel free to choose another dwarf.
Atis will be given to WorkerDrone as William seems like a male name.

Apologies to Hawkfrost and Sir Diesalot, we have run out of males. I hope gender isn't a dealbreaker for you.

If no-one minds, I'll take Obok, renamed to "Cookie," who can be your Brewer/Cook/Farmer.

Excellent. All dwarves taken. The first posting will be up shortly.
The area is a 3x4 area with all the fixings minus the special other stuff...
Underground river, brook, magma pipe, chasm and flux. At least the finder tells me so.

Also Martian you requested later service in military, any weapon/armor/shield preferences? That goes for everyone, I've got:
William: Sword/?/?
Scintoth: Hammer/?/?

Steel plate and shield for me I want a badass looking head of military or the guard. Are growth times for children edited so that the fortress wont have to have 7 workers for 12 years while they grow up?

Yea, you might want to change [CHILD:12] in the creature_standard file in the raws to [CHILD:7].  Eight-year-olds should be required to work in such a small settlement.  It will still take forever to make them grow, though.

By the way, since you aren't allowing immigration, why don't you use the init to set a pop cap of seven?  I believe births are unaffected by said cap (though I could be wrong on that one).  That way, you don't have to go through the hassle of killing off every stupid migrant who comes to your door.
