I just got a turtle bone statue, probably one of my more interesting artifacts, aside the black bronze greaves in another fort in a long while... I just want to know why have it be about trading with the elves?

....They just refuse to stay down unless butchered, in which case their skins will haunt you until you subdue and tan them. Never has legendary butcher and legendary tanner seemed so valueable as in this release.

That might have been random, but for all you know, the dwarf who created the statue might like elves. Dwarves supposedly favor motifs they like when decorating or engraving.

Obviously, that was the preliminary "please stop cutting down trees" from moments before the caravan was dropped into a carp tarp.

In my most recent fortress, I've had the best series of artifacts I've ever had - but please bear in mind that I'm a utilitarian. Vast amounts of metals and plentiful coal and lava and an underground river and a bottomless pit and sand, emphasis on the metals, so I've got like 15 metalsmiths going a dozen years in.

First smith's arti: Arti Adamantine warhammer. Second: Arti Adamantine spear. Third: Arti Adamantine short sword. Fourth: Arti Adamantine mace. Fifth: Arti Adamantine barrel.

I put #5 to death immediately. He broke my streak!

Hey, what? He makes you ARTIFACT barrel so you can keep all those weapons in it and you kill him?

Awwwz, how sad.

I don't think you can put weapons in barrels.

Booze, however...

I know you can't, but it would be nice to do so...

maybe he was being really smart, like fill said artifact barrel with fire imp tallow, push down hill towards attackers and you have a bomb that is reuasble and doesn't destroy the container?  Also you could go Donkey Kong and then it's a weapon.

I had just finished watching Glengarry Glen Ross and was feeling cheeky.  "First place is a masterwork Adamantine throne. Second place you get a set of diorite floor grates. Third place you're fired."

ABC, my little dwarfies: Always Be Crafting. In this kind of business, you need BRASS BARS.

There we go. All you need is a war gorilla.

of course if the gobbo's get their hands on any small Italian children who want to be plumber's, you're screwed, especially if they train in maces first so they are red in color.

my most expansive was a Steel plate mail, made from 6 steel bars, t was spiked with steel, circled with steel, adroned with hanging rings of steel and i think it had an image of a volcano in steel.  I believe it cost 350,000 or somewhere in that area.

I've never actually located adimantine. it makes me sad. i wish i could get reveal to work.
 >:(
make it where your miner mines the entire bottom level, and then remove it before he litterly mines it, then try the reveal tool, though I never use the reveal tool because it stops me from making armor out of Adamantine, magma buildings, and some other stuff

The only artifact in my world so far is a Granite Toy Axe.  As far as I'm concerned, they should just call it an axe!  Still, it's getting engraved in other fortresses.
