this was a while ago but no long after i had started my fort a dwarf built a platinum anvil encircled with iron and encrusted with gems.  It was worth something silly like the rest of my fortress x2

Casserwarosp Dacapmestri, "Dancephantom the Glad Trickeries", an eltalite switch axe. It is studded with eltalite and has an image of sliver barb in cow leather. Basic value 3,313,200 dwarfcatbucks. 3 times my fort's previous value.

Not only is eltalite slightly better than adamantine in this mod, I've only found 5 bars of it on this site, and he grabbed the very last one. The only bad side is that it's a two-handed weapon, and I have no axecats yet.

I haven't tried adventure mode yet, but I might once this fort falls. If it ever does.

my fort is quite new, so nothing amazing, but my two best artefacts are:

Minedabbling the raw oar: a trifle pewter mace.  Its decorated with bands of pig leather, wolf leather and trifle pewter. (Well, its not very good, but im not sure if trifle pewter makes a good mace, as you can't normally make weapons out of it)

Crowntrailed the aching strength: an iron mail shirt.  It menaces with spikes of gneiss, and has an image in it in iron, of elves and humans fighting.
Trifle pewter is basically the stuff metal figurines were made from in the '80s and '90s.  Its about as hard as (cold) butter. :)

Doesn't quite have the ring of heroics to it...

Nekikdastot, The Cold Sword, a large, serrated adamantine disc.
This is a large serrated adamantine disc. All craftdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encrusted with lapis lazuli and indigo tourmaline, decorated with (dyed midnight blue) llama wool and encircled with bands of adamantine. This object menaces with spikes of marble, indigo tourmaline and sheep leather. On the item is an image of squares in green glass.

It's worth almost 5 millions Urist.  :D

Gotta use that thing at least once before I abandon the fort, seriously.

My first weirdly epic artefact was a pig iron spear. I had no clue how he made a spear out of it O.O
Then I learned more about artefacts in DF. After that I had a lot of epic artefacts, but my personal favourite atm. is the first one made out of adamantine :] . I got no screens of it, and the world got deleted...

EDIT: OMG! It's not the artefact it self, but it's the next best thing :]

My previous fort had Tametempted the Perplexing Ships, a Rhyolite Throne decorated with leather, gems, and bones, with images of some historical elf-battle, my militia commander killing the Cyclops that attacked in the third year, some other artifcat...and I think some other stuff. It was worth over 100K, but of course I put it in the middle of the dining hall. An image of it showed up on a copper shoe in my current fort.

A wooden statue of my Militia commander. I'm going to place it at the top of my above-ground fortifications and light it on fire as a warning to all potential attackers.

Just got some copper greaves. On one leg is an image of a human being killed by a grizzly bear, on the other leg is an image of an elf being killed by a dragon.

An Admantine Spear, menacing with spikes of adamantine, and is studded with adamantine.

Too bad all my soldiers were attached to their axes  :(

No joke, my weaver just made an artifact pig tail fiber thong complete with bands, hanging rings, and spikes. It would appear to be some kind of chastity belt. And the best part? It's named The Admiration of Mortification. No joke. For those unaware, a meaning of mortification is "(Christianity) the act of mortifying the lusts of the flesh by self-denial and privation."

"This is a saguaro rib harp. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encircled with bands of saguaro rib wood. This object menaces with spikes of saguaro rib wood." Yeah yeah I know but it was the first artifact in this fort. It's called "The Celebrated Scale", which I think is awesome, especially since the guy who made it was a founder and already had a musical-themed name as a friend's request. I've had awful luck with artifacts otherwise, I've had two adamantine warhammer possessions (neither of them even liked hammers!) and a reindeer bone battleaxe.

I did get a nice adamantine mail shirt though. Weakencleaned. "Encircled with bands of towercap, sheep leather and pigtail fiber, adorned with hanging rings of goliath tarantula silk (mod) and menaces with spikes of alpaca wool. On the item is an image of mountains in adamantine, dwarves traveling in bismuthininte and a cloud in rose quartz." So it's kind of a little sunset scene with blue mountains, pink clouds and dwarves traveling underneath. :)
