to mr blue gem window appears everywhere - im pretty sure that dwarves make engravings or images of things that happened in the local region. which is why embarking on a big reagion most often gives you more interesting legends engravings. so, forts created in the same region as the blue gem window will get pictures of it. if you want images of your adamantium short sword, you can try embarking in the same region as it. i get lots of pictures of my steel short sword in my current fort, as it borders on the same forest my last fort was on even though they are a million miles from each other. its called the forest of machines, and i also get a lot of epic engravings of a metallicish forest titan comitting genocide against the elves. which is awesome.

The thing is, FortressPeaced was created in one fort, which is literally the other side of the world from a lot of my forts (And this is a large world). The only connection I can think of is that all my forts are the same civ (The National Picks), so it may have passed through the civ. Still pretty random that my dorfs fell in love with a goddamn blue window artifact :p

Well, I'm fairly new at DF, only have a half dozen fortresses to my name.  but, here's my best so far(that I took note of)

Now, a bit of background.  I had embarked without a pick through some monumental error that I'm still not sure how it happened.  I had one copper axe and after I felled a tree or two I made a few more.  a lot of trees died to set up a wooden shelter for my dwarves until I could get their grubby hands on a pick or two.  First Elven caravan showed up, and I wasn't ready.  I had a large number of WOODEN items made to trade with the dwarven caravan from earlier...so I put a rush order in on some stone crafts.  The elves showed up looking sickened at my wooden walls, exchange the normal set of insults and they left with five chert mugs and a promise that I wouldn't cut any more trees(I didn't have any LEFT to cut) and they left behind five golden colored berries and a few wooden logs.  Almost as soon as the elves got off screen my woodcraft dwarf started acting secretive and confiscated two of those logs.  a short time later I was presented with...This:

Gutid Lokast "The Utterance of Butchers" a alder bracelet

Got this one in my most recent fort, while the artifact isn't interesting, the choice of artwork...
(there are so many puns I could make.)

Give cats natural metallic armor and throw them in your danger room.  Also allow their mouth and tail to grasp (shield in mouth, weapon in tail xD)  Have a cat based military.  You know, do the same with all tame animals xD send in the cats as shock troops to disrupt the archers

Arak Desgir, The Shaft of Goads.

This is a Beech Casket. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is studded with Raw Dragon Scales and encircled with bands of orc bone. This object menaces with spikes of Highwood, Native Mithril, Goose Leather, amazonite and yellow jasper.
On the item is an image of The Language of Honoring the Crucible Steel square shield in Beech.
On the item is an image of dwarves in topaz. The dwarves are laboring. The artwork refers to the foundation of spottedbooks by The Momentous Roof of The Room of Owners in the early spring of 66.

Value: 2917200

More than doubled my fort wealth, and it shows both my awesomest artifact and the founding of my fort? It doesn't get much better!

Made in the Dig Deeper mod of 40d.

On my current fort, my second artifact was my miner. He made a bed out of bituminous coal, encircled with bands of iron and menacing with spikes of bituminous coal.

I don't care how much it's worth, it's a goddamn spiked bed made of coal by a miner.

And the sad thing is, I could probably use it to dispose of nobles...but it's too awesome to magmarize.

Fun fact: flamable artifacts burn for all eternity without crumbling to ashes, ever.
So all you need is an artifact bed that is on fire and then assign nobles when needed. The bed will continue to burn.

I don't remember what it was called, wasn't worth very much and used only two materials, but it was the most dwarfliest artifact possibly made by dwarfkind.

It was a Menacing Steel Spike that Menaced with Spikes of Hematite.

Just got my first artifact weapon in I-can't-remember-how-long.  It's not exactly uberpowered but.. well...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Now all I need is a dorf to take it up and hold it sideways. Forget if he fired 24 -bismuth bronze bolts- or 25. See if that berzerking metalsmith feels like a lucky punk.

One of my smiths made me an artifact raw adamantine bed. Why is it you can only make bed's out of wood, but if a dwarf goes crazy he can make a comfortable bed out of adamantine? I'm slowly decorating my fort with adamantine everything.

Artifacts can be made out of ANYTHING. Silk anvils, coke axes, bone armour, soap chair, whatever you want. Ever-popular are burning forever graphite beds for nobles.

I had a dwarf make a sapphire cage once. Through sheer luck, it was in the first cage trap when the dragon arrived...

Mine is a gold battle axe that I just made today.

SHASAROLTAR *FRIGHTGILD*, a gold battle axe.

This is a gold battle axe. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. This object menaces with spikes of gold.
On the item is an image of a human and giant leopards in kaolinite. The human is surrounded by the giant leopards.

So I basically have this scary golden axe, called 'frightgild' (which makes sense because gilded usually means gold-plated,) and there's an image of a human about to be eaten by giant leopards in blood-red rock.

THIS IS AWESOME.

Immediately, I equipped it to my militia commander, whom I have named and dedicated in my honor. The artifact may or may not be buried with him in a solid gold pyramid and submerged underwater upon his passing.

UPDATE: Elves just traded me an orangutan and, what else but... a GIANT LEOPARD!!

Prophetic axe, anyone?
