Hello!  I'm a first time poster on the forums and a big fan of Adventure mode.  Only recently have I been getting things to run smoothly in the Fortress Mode.  One of my forts I named "Nilashok" which translates to Hammertime.  A good few years into my fort, a Mechanic gets possessed and grabs one of my two magma forges.  Oddly enough he makes a War Hammer.  It is called "Bidoktob Stigil Stumam" which translates to Actsmashed the Jaws of Broiling. Its basic value is only 54,000.

Sullendabble the Royal Jungles

"This is a steel statue of Kadol Mazebolted.  All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.
The item is a masterfully designed image of Kadol Mazebolted the dwarf and a prepared meal in steel by Aban Ikthagkivish.  Kadol Mazebolted is raising the prepared meal.  The artwork relates to the masterful prepared meal created by the dwarf Kadol Mazebolted for the Honest Heather-Trade at Coverampart in the midwinter of 252.
It is encircled with bands of limestone.  This object menaces with spikes of steel.
On the item is an image of The Scarce Laces the steel left gauntlet in bauxite."

I've had higher-value artifacts, and maybe artifact glass aquariums are cooler, but a steel statue of great meal (could have been the awesome prepared black crested gibbon intestine bisquits) and an artifact left gauntlet.  How cool is that?  And a blacksmith created it, not a metalcrafter, so he's legendary+5 now and there will be masterpiece nickel bins, barrels, and buckets for all.

Actually, a bucket would have been better because I could have made it into a multi-million uristbuck well, but you can't have everything.

An obsidian bed.

I was like, LOLWUT???

Magma-safe bed. Put it in a noble's room.

Anyway... I haven't really seen any really impressive artifacts myself, since I'm only a Novice Player... I've had an iron bracelet with spikes, what is pretty classic, a perfect red pyrope worth 48k, and in the fort I've been playing just until now (I'll be back) I got a pig iron boot, a pig tail boot with cloth spikes and the like, and some other cloth-spiked artifact.

One Legendary Weaver, which is also my Broker. The second guy was possessed. Also a Legendary Armorsmith.

I was not paying attention to my latest mood while I was busy trying to cast obsidian around some adamantine.  But, my weaponsmith just grabbed an adamantine wafer, and a bunch of other stuff, I may be about to skip a huge amount of training, and get a nice blue weapon out of it.   :o

Battle Axe!!!!

To bad he was possessed, he still has a long time making bolts before he can touch anymore of the blue stuff.

At least he seems to have made a combat weapon, and not the official Hammerers weapon of office. :D

making bolts

Are you producing them just for the experience, or are you going to use them too? If it's the former then you'd get more of your metal back if you made and recycled menacing spikes, giant axe blades and corkscrews.

Apparently my dwarf made a picture of his perfect brown jasper on his perfect brown jasper... in brown jasper. I honestly wonder how he managed to put a picture of his masterpiece on his work of art before he finished making it.

Okay. This is by far not my best, but still...

A crown. Made of donkey bone. Being made of bone, the cow half and horse foal bones just disappeared in the making.

The name? The Influential Will. Fitting for a crown.

The name in dwarvish? Immastud.

My guess is perhaps he'd had a vision of it fully formed in his mind when the mood inspired him. Makes sense to me, anyway!
