Surely that would melt the tomb?

anddddddd your point is? You can start from scratch! You even have more stone to make the new coffins.

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

Well, I'd wait until the zombies started moaning before pulling the 'melt the bastards and free stone!' lever.

Dunno, depends on the circumstances, would the Zombies, if devoured by magma, rise of as magma elementals or some such?

Pour on magma then water. They won't be all that scary if they're encased in obsidian.  :D

Now I want to fill all my tombs with obsidian...

On second thought, magma destoyes engravings right? Lets avoid a tantrum spiral.

I'll fill the connecting tunnels instead.

Where did you think all those magma men and fire men came from? And encasing the restless dead into obsidian will just get you living walls and end with your own fortress trying to eat you. "Strike the earth", indeed.

Although that would solve the cat problem.

One of the several things that often gets DF branded as a roguelike is that the random number generator can always find some way to screw you over.

This would be good as a 'Trap'. You bury a load of dwarves in the shallow soil and then when the elves come, they spring back to life!

I love this idea.  It harms elves.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
