[40d] Administrator - Attend meeting... forever
« on: October 30, 2008, 01:07:14 pm »

So, my administrator has had the job "attend meeting" for a ridiculously long time. It started in the autumn and it's winter now and he's still going. He eats, drinks, sleeps and then goes back to "attend meeting", which apparently means running around to seemingly random points in the fortress.

Is he trying to conduct a meeting with a perpetually busy dwarf, like a mason or weaver?

I don't think so. I've not been able to trace it to another dwarf, anyway. I tried making him a soldier then a royal guard. It makes no difference. His job is always "attend meeting".

All I can say is follow him around and see if he is following a dwarf around.
On a side note he should change away from attend meeting if he has any other priorities like making some statues or socks or eating?
Is he starving himself? That would defannly be a bug and not just the wierd UI.

No, as I said, he eats and drinks and sleeps. In his waking hours all he does is "attend meeting" and he ignores anything else I do. Obviously, this is a bug since I can make him a soldier/guard to no effect.

Start with the Mayor.

Another flavor on this random glitch.
All the woodcutter does is conduct the meeting with the miner, and when she tantrums, she doesn't even bother attacking the miner, even though she tantrumed and horribly maimed her.

Has anyone been able to come up with a fix for this problem?  I'm in the same boat, and really don't want to have to enlist every other dwarf in the fort.

The dwarf in question will nearly always be trying to meet with the mayor or expedition leader. If not, just figure out who s/he is following around.

Basically :
Press n, find out who your expedition leader / mayor is.
Select that dwarf and disable all labours.
They should conduct the meeting.

I've never seen anyone except the forts leader attend a meeting with an upset dwarf. It's not a bug until the steps above don't work, or at least, it's a very well known bug caused by non-labour activities like harvesting plants, pulling levers, and attending meetings being prioritized below most or all labour associated ones.

I seem to recall a bug a while ago that made dwarves try to attend meetings with ex-mayors forever.  Did y'all have mayor changes recently?

Disabling the mayor's labors got it.  Seems conducting meetings is a very low priority task.  Thanks for the help guys!

I've been having this issue as well.  My mayor already had all labors disabled but he's been taking every non-labor task he can get rather than conducting the meeting.  My administrator's been following him around like a puppy, it's quite sad.

Dwarf Manager helps a lot here.  Turn off hauling jobs?  Actually I think you can turn off hauling jobs without Dwarf Manager...  if I remember right...

If not, try to lock the mayor and the pup in a room.
