BG1 doesn't have berserkers.  Just fighters, rogues, rangers, druids, mages and clerics.  No subclasses, except for specialist mages.

BG1's lack of awesome class packages sort of turned me away from it. If I made a character to import into BG2, he or she would also lack the subclass potential.

Beserker Cleric sounds like an awesome idea. I often tried Beserker / Mage, which didn't make sense. The Kensei / Mage is indeed powerful but really lacks in defense until you go into mage mode and get spirit armor, or something equivalent. I just couldn't expect my Kensei to take blows for the rest of my party.

Baldur's Gate TuTu allows you to use the BG2 version of the infinity engine in BG1, including the awesome class packages

Aah, really? I didn't know it was that fancy. Maybe I can find that Baldur's Gate collection somewhere...

Yeehaw!  Just finished up the BG2 installation, set up Tutu, and I am ready to roll, baby!

Well, not quite...  I need to tweak my screen's resolution to 1024x768 so this poor old game can fill up the screen, and I should probably get the Tutu degreenifier...  But other than that, I think I'm good to go!

Did you guys install BG2 with Throne of Bhaal too?  I did, and then installed TuTu.  I wonder if we have to have the same game installed to do multiplayer.

For this to work, we all need the same version of the game, or else it will fail.

I propose that we use TuTu with ToB, and no mods (I'm not sure if degreenifier changes how the game works, so I'd caution against it).  So, in order of installation steps:

1. Install BG, BG:TotSC, BG2, BG2 ToB (full installs)
2. Install latest patches (for TotSC and ToB).
3. Install TuTu.

And now, to find my external hard drive, and my copies of the CDs

I don't have Throne of Baal...  Or Tales of the Sword Coast.

K, I'm all set then.  I'm also using the ToB no-cd crack.

Hmm, my computer doesn't like having two copies of BG2.

Oh well.  I'll be all set in about a minute.
It might be prone to crashing on Vista, however.

Double Post, sorry, but this is completely different from what I last posted.

For all your modding pleasure.  Holy crap.  It auto-installs like 260 mods, so that they are installed in the right order, and all are compatible.  Fun.

I just looked into BG1. It seemed kinda... Dated. The interface was rather old and clunky, plus persistent graphics problems annoyed me too much to get into it.

Well, I liked it...  I still do.  But in any case, Tutu makes BG1 run on the BG2 engine, with all the graphics, interface, and other doohicky updates that brings along.

Massive necromancy + double post.   It just doesn't get better than this.

"This topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days" indeed.

Anyways, I just recently had my copies of Baldur's Gate and Shadows of Amn shipped over from stateside, and I'm pretty sure this machine can handle them.  I know it takes a ridiculously long amount of time to coordinate a game date, so I figured I'd get the ball rolling and let folks prepare themselves a bit now.

I haven't installed anything yet, but I should be ready by the time everyone else gets sorted out.

I've never experienced BG multiplayer, and I think that's a damn shame.  I'll play it by myself if I have to, but I'd much rather have a game with some forumites.  It's just fun to chat your way through a fantasy world like that, and it also means I don't have to control all the characters myself (I always hated that).
