I would love to play this: I have BG2 and ToB, but they're about twenty miles away... I wonder if it would be considered lawful to use the capabilities of the internet to acquire things in a specific manner.

I was always terrible at BG, though. If the worst possible thing could happen to me, it did. Don't get me started with the Wish spell...

Harumph, you obviously had no idea what to wish for. You OBVIOUSLY have to wish for a massive army, because rabbits are good for many uses.

Hell, when I played BG, I'd just create character after character and piss off that one wizard so he'd shoot a lightning bolt at me. Lightning bolt, I might add, was the "kill everything, do not pass 'Go', do not collect 200Gp." spell of BG1.

"Protection from Undead" seemed like a good, safe, reasonable wish at the time. I never played BG1, but it seems as good or better than BG2 from what I hear on these forums.

I really liked BG1 for it's open world, go anywhere, feel. It didn't have quite as many features as BG2, and the story wasn't as engaging, but it was definitely more "explorer" friendly.

I just think it would be so fun to play the entire game with a group of real people. BG1 -> ToSC -> BG2 -> ToB. If we did this we should try to get it to work with the Baldur's Gate Tutu mod. You can download it here: http://usoutpost31.com/easytutu/

Absolutely. One of my favourites is the 'made party leader' one- "Minsc will lead with blade and boot! ...Boo will take care of the details." Xan also has a special place in my heart for *click* "We're all doomed."

Jahera's click quote's quite nice too:

Whoops, I goofed on my schedule. I can play after 3:00PM on Saturday. All other days are after 8:00 PM.

At least I got the time zone right... GMT -8.

If we're going down that route, am I right in thinking that one of Khalid's was "AUGH! Uh, I mean, yes?"

Yes, Khalid was a rather skittish sort. I quite like a few of Quayle's though.

I wonder what happened to Shar Teel. Allot of BG1 characters show up in BG2 as enemies or just NPCs but I never saw Shar Teel.

Dammit, I'm going to be heading out to California pretty soon, and that means I'll be back on that junky little laptop... I'll see if I can get everything to work on there, but even if it does I'll probably be moving a bit slower than everyone else unless I can somehow set up a mouse platform to use instead of that damned little trackpoint...

I'm free for a couple days though. If folks are actually game to do this, I'll start installing BG1 onto my rig and then work my way around Tutu.

Actualy installed Tutu a few days ago, and it runs like it's always been a part of BG2. Now getting the mp conection to work might be slightly more problematic but I havn't tried that yet. If you guys plan on setting up a game soon, I'll see if I can join in.

I'll need to rely on someone else hosting the game, I've got some pretty nasty firewalls protecting this rig, and I have no clue how to clear a port for gaming. I've never been able to host a multiplayer game on this computer, nobody can see it.

Okey-dokey.... Just got down to Calif, and I've got a marginally more powerful laptop to run it on. I mean, this thing's even got a touchpad. Talk about state-of-the-art.

Anyways, I just so happened to bring down my Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn gigabyte-sucking wonder, along with my borrowed copy of Baldur's Gate.

Yes that's right, borrowed.

Several years ago, I was displaying an interest in Baldur's Gate (I knew nothing about D&D or BG or anything else. The box just had nice pictures). My father, at that time, worked with a guy who bought lots of games, and he just happened to have a copy of Baldur's Gate. I borrowed it for a bit. Then we moved.

A little over eight years pass. I've still got the blighted thing, and he's never asked for it back. Lucky me.

Anyways, I'm going to try installing these things, and then I'll download and install Tutu without so much as glancing at the installation guide. Guides are for wussies.

Speaking of guides, I've got a cheat-sheet back in Vegas that shows the developer command name for every item in Baldur's Gate. This, combined with some arcane command which I have long since forgotten, allows for a cheat-inclined player to spawn any item of his or her choosing.

No, I had not heard of Gatekeeper.

EDIT: And there we have BG1,fully installed. Poor little thing couldn't even comprehend 24 gig of free space. It should, considering it takes up 2Gb...

I'll tackle the sequel tomorrow, I got started kinda late. And I'm still thinking what character I'm going to make, seeing as BG1 doesn't have that oh-so-promising 'skald' class kit. But if I just take a basic tank of a fighter, I am definitely naming him "Biff the Understudy".

I'm still interested in this, especially if we play in order, using TuTu (to two, heh) for BG1. Hmm, I might as well do a fresh install, I think I have a gazillion mods for my copies.

Anyways, I think I'd make a Beserker, then dual-class to a cleric later. Clerics are fun, but so is going into a beserk rage and destorying everything.
