Okey-dokey.... Just got down to Calif, and I've got a marginally more powerful laptop to run it on. I mean, this thing's even got a touchpad. Talk about state-of-the-art.
Anyways, I just so happened to bring down my Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn gigabyte-sucking wonder, along with my borrowed copy of Baldur's Gate.
Yes that's right, borrowed.
Several years ago, I was displaying an interest in Baldur's Gate (I knew nothing about D&D or BG or anything else. The box just had nice pictures). My father, at that time, worked with a guy who bought lots of games, and he just happened to have a copy of Baldur's Gate. I borrowed it for a bit. Then we moved.
A little over eight years pass. I've still got the blighted thing, and he's never asked for it back. Lucky me.
Anyways, I'm going to try installing these things, and then I'll download and install Tutu without so much as glancing at the installation guide. Guides are for wussies.
Speaking of guides, I've got a cheat-sheet back in Vegas that shows the developer command name for every item in Baldur's Gate. This, combined with some arcane command which I have long since forgotten, allows for a cheat-inclined player to spawn any item of his or her choosing.
No, I had not heard of Gatekeeper.
EDIT: And there we have BG1,fully installed. Poor little thing couldn't even comprehend 24 gig of free space. It should, considering it takes up 2Gb...
I'll tackle the sequel tomorrow, I got started kinda late. And I'm still thinking what character I'm going to make, seeing as BG1 doesn't have that oh-so-promising 'skald' class kit. But if I just take a basic tank of a fighter, I am definitely naming him "Biff the Understudy".
