I get rather a mite upset when my epic champion with over 30 goblin kills in less than 3 years and a legendary artifact weapon is killed by a Goblin Crossbowman who manages to inflict a mortal throat wound.

For me it's more when Windows Update decides that it's going to reboot my computer without asking me my opinion on the subject, and I have autosave turned off.

(I now always have autosave seasonally turned on for this very reason)

Try 104 goblins and 17 spirits of fire (and three deer and a goat) with an artifact spear and buckler.

It doesn't do this if you're in windowed mode to my knowledge.
It did do this to me while I was playing a fullscreen game a couple days ago though.

This is exactly why I only update manually once a week rather than leave autoupdate on.

1) The miner doesn't quite outrun the magma when connecting the magma forge channels to the source and makes it to the food/booze stockpile before dying from heat.

2) Can't quite remember if diagonals count for cave in connectivity.(nope)

3) The miners cancel EVERY DURNED TILE of a large dug out stockpile room because it's 1 z level below the cistern.  (Optional) Hitting an aquifer from the side that just happens to be under said cistern flooding every blasted thing.

4) Friendly goblin merchants.

1) when I want the pits walled up, the leave for a bit, thinking that not eved dwarves can fail to make a stone wall when they are surrounded by stone.
Then coming back to a slaughterhouse because I accidentally set the wall to be made out of a piece of wood on the other side of the map.

The thing to do hear is make three adamantine spears.  Then put them in spike traps in the noble's room.  Lock him in when he's asleep, and once he's standing on one, pull the lever.
