I love nethack!  Can anybody tell me what font type is used for Nethack ASCII?  I'm trying to make a little ASCII game with the same type of font.  Thank you.

 Or, as I learned from Powder, can be used to hit enemies multiple times.

 The Lightning hits the Grid Bug! The Lightning bounces! The Lightning hits the Grid Bug!

 Although when using it in Nethack, I found things are a lot less... dependable.

If you need two lightning bolts to kill a grid bug, you need to work on your magic skills.

I found that a better use of lightning is to engrave a permanent Elbereth square and watch all the monsters flee in horror. Now magic missile + wall + amulet of reflection on the other hand...

EDIT:  Why are pets so impossible?  Either they fall in a pit, or step on a trap, and I have to start over(I use them for BUC), or when I"m trying to use them, they won't go where I want them to go.  I've spent several minutes trying to get my dog to go into this dead-end to force it to step over an item, and it's borderline impossible.

Magic whistles make everything pet-related better.

Also, I have an alarming tendency to carelessly jump into water. Blanked scrolls and spellbooks ahoy!

I never really got used to praying, and when i was in a bind I just used everything in my invetory. One time one of my scrolls managed to annoy my God so much he chained me to an iron ball. I fell down stairs  .
Another time I tested a wand by zapping it at a wall. It was a wand of death, and the ray bounced back and hit me...
Finally once I read an unidentified scroll, ended up digging through the level I was on and ending up in a small cave I couldn't get out of. I havent had much luck, in retrospect.

I guess it doesn't help that I am obsessed with getting Excalibur and telepathy as soon as I can so that every monster in the world hones in on my position. VALKYRIES LIVE IN NEVER ENDING COMBAT.

I setup multiple stashes. One on DL1 for the day I am prepared to ascend, and then one or two on a level with co-aligned altar/temple.

Special levels accessible with The Eye are good.

I never allow myself to move around any more than burdened, except when moving a corpse a few squares to the altar. I keep items being hauled in a single bag. When I need to fight or flight, I drop the bag.

The only creature that can open chests and bags is you. But there are creatures that can swallow the chest and bag... namely gelatinous cube.

So a proper stash has a permanent Elbereth on the floor to scare away monsters, a chest to protect the items, and a cursed durable item outside to keep your pets away, in case your chest is light enough to be carried.
