First of all, how is beer a fire hazard? It's practically water. Same for wine.

Also, alcohol should have a quality modifier like all other items.

For starters, this is dwarven beer. Dwarves would never drink anything less than 300-proof*.

*Yes, I know 200-proof alcohol is equal to 100%. But, be assured, dwarves will find a way.

Make booze a liquid like water. Make the main hall a giant tidal pool, so that to go anywhere you can't help but swallow some.

Lets see some cisterns. How much should they hold? A barrel does 15? So this should do like 150 units of booze?

Well, considering that liquid goes from 0 to 7, I'd say 25 booze is equivalent to 7 depth...but then we'd have to say a barrel really holds 24 booze instead to avoid rounding error

Didn't someone say that you can't mix two different batches of beer with good results?  I didn't see anyone pay attention to that note, but I thought it pretty good.

The game currently tracks quality of booze invisibly.  What happens to that?

Hmmm... Mixing Drinks. That's a Great Idea independent form the Pond issue  ;D

You could just average the Quality i guess...
Or make it a new Job, so the Mix Drink can get a new Quality from skill...

You could also stretch drinks with water, increasing the amount of booze you get, but risking your legendary Axedwarf notice it and get really-really upset at the bar-keeper  :o

On a map cold enought (not that hard for beer) you could eben build a whole fort out of beer.
That be very Dwarfy  ;D

Urist: "The fort is melting!!"

Mystery Meat Surprise:
Warning: May contain elf Corpse.

Hmm...perhaps the quality of the beer should also be based on its relative temperature. Using a caged ice elemental to power a minifridge sound like anyone's fancy?

Barrel -> Keg -> Mug -> Drink

That's how it should be :D

A few barrels are placed near wherever dwarfs gather when they eat/drink -> a cook/peasant/whatever keeps X amount (user defined/user controlled of course) of kegs which he fills from the barrels -> Dwarfs that want to drink get their beer from the keg with a mug.

1 barrel is equal to 4-5 kegs and 1 keg is equal to 5 or so drinks. Simple, no?

May seem a bit excessive but on the other hand it'd be nice to be able to create a more realistic pub-like environment :D

isn't drinking beer simple anyway?
Mug to mouth, or, depending on how many beers, mug to floor.

I would skip the Kegs.
Barrel -> Mug should be enought.

But, but...
Giant kegs on roofs!
much as I hate to mention the game, the dwarf inns on WoW had giant kegs.

Kegs could be part of the dining room/meeting hall, so dwarves would have their mugs there instead of next to the stockpile.

Indeed, I prefer dwarves drinking in a dining hall instead of in the stockpiles.
