Bay12 wants your monsters!
« on: August 12, 2002, 05:53:00 am »

Because it will be a while till the next release you are encouraged to send your creature files (.cre and any new .mdl files) to Bay 12's Crack Staff,  kurtulmak@bay12games.com ! (or Bay 12's staff on crack to paraphrase Conan O'Brian)

All creatures will be reviewed and errors will be fixed (include error list with email), and all submissions will appear on the site!

Could somebody please post a link or a doc explaining most of the functions of the creature editor?

My tiny pea brain cant't figure out how to even save or load things.

There was that manual I wrote that had some things near the bottom HERE.

Other than that, we can take questions...

To save, click on filename, type in a file name, press enter, and click on Save Creature at the bottom right.

To load, click on filename, type in a file name, and press enter.

Very good, the Dio dei Coboldi is pleased.

Send all monsters, including infuriating gnomes, to   kurtulmak@bay12games.com   at once!

Denimsk8r made a hydra and changed his centaur a bit.  They are on the submissions page.

I've mostly finished temperature and all that.  I'll be starting up trees soon...  I also changed the way the ground textures are stored, so that it no longer repeats itself.  The whole thing is a customizable texture now...  takes a bit of video memory, but there should be enough on the cards.  Soon Kalima will rule the world.

Thank you Denimsk8r, you should all know how hard it is to create monsters with the current editor.   Denimsk8r has added something to his centaur that I have been saying we needed for awhile- a ribcage!

Toadyone tells me that a more realistic ribcage can be designed by creating individual ribs and setting the # greater than one.  You then set the encaseing % to a small # and all together the ribs should cover the heart and lungs pretty well.

Good job!  Kurtulmak wont even get off his godly ass and make a MegaKobold that is more than a larger kobold with steel skin and bones.

One question:  Why is the female hydra's rear-end sticking up in the air?  :)

ZONK: WHERE ARE MY GNOMES!!!!??!!!!!?!!

Hi all, I am back. Now I will probably be in this forum alot since my summervacation is nearing its end (only 5 whole days left) so that means that the reason that I didnt come here (sleeps 15 hours a day) will disappear. Also, in september/october I will get my new computer and then I will create a creature that will act as the champion bent on the death of all kobolds... if he succeds is a different story  :)

I like the Trolls- I think they will only be effect in numbers, taking death-blows on purpose only to return the favor.  However, while it is a sound tactic to absorb a sword into your guts and disarm your opponent, it seems like it does no good when his buddy is standing by to hack your head off.

Trolls have their brain distributed trough their body...cutting their head does not kill them!

Maybe that is why trolls r so stupid... They get an arm cut off and everything remembered in the brain pieces in that arm is forgotten. Then the arm regrows ready to learn  :)
