Excellent, I've been craving a Subversion update.

I'm impressed by the serveroom picture. How you can rewire and tamper with anything.

And that CCT cameras all record video to a HDD in the server room that you can futz with to remove traces of yourself.

If this game is anything like Uplink, the amount of extra work it will take to cover your tracks is going to be huge. Very excited.

Yep. I imagine that once he integrates the in-building gameplay with the city-level, there might be police chases while you and your agents are trying to escape a crime scene. :D

I would just randomly unplug stuff, wipe computers and generally mess with stuff and see what happens.

Check out their procedural audio too:

http://www.introversion.co.uk/blog/20100802/audiotest.avi

Listening to it got the little hairs on my arms to stand up, I love dynamic music, especially when they give you the tools to define your own sounds and thresholds.

Apparently, your agents are going to have behavioral AI as well. So if they get shot and are dying, they may flee for their lives even if you'd rather they complete the mission. That's how I'm reading his statements on behavioral AI, at any rate.

This games gonna be great!
 (How do you contract noun-is?)

Console+Wiremod+"heist" movies+Spore... Am I hallucinating?

Might need a new computer to run it though - mine was secretly salvaged from the recycling center and upgraded with similarly salvaged parts. If you're curious:

Dell Dimention 8100.
  • NVIDIA Geforce 3 (64.00 MB?)
  • 1,024 MB phys. mem (might have more RAM slots open, might have some working salvaged RAM)
  • Windows XP Home
  • ~28 GB and ~18.5 GB hard drives
  • CD-RW drive, working
  • DVD-ROM drive, might or might not have correct drivers
  • Soundcard, speakers, USB mouse, PS/2 keybobard, etc.

What's your processor? That's really the big question.

The video card needs to go. But 128mb to 256 mb cards are cheap these days. Like, really cheap.

Another gig of RAM is also a must.

I will enjoy messing with stuff, just for the hell of it and to see how much you can mess up. :P

Coming Clean.

It's not an entry by Chris or about Subversion necessarily. It's a retrospective by another Introversion lead, where he goes into great detail about Introversion's rocky past, ups and absolute rock bottoms. After Darwinia+, Introversion literally went back to three guys in a bedroom with laptops. Given what just happened, and continues to happen with Elemental and Stardock, I found this almost as interesting of a read as the game design entries.

Yeah, I read that when they posted it and forgot to post here. At least I'm glad to see they're back up and working on Subversion.

I was happy to pick up their products I had no interest in, during the Steam sale, as I figured it'd help Subversion a little bit seeing as how Introversion always seems to be telling a tale of financial woe. What I didn't expect is to read the above article after the fact and find out that without the Steam promotion that Introversion would've been history.

 That info made me angry.

I don't pour over their site or such, but I have been keenly interested in Subversion for years and though I don't fancy Darwinia in the slightest I would have bought it much sooner were I made aware of the impending doom facing the company. Maybe I failed to pay attention when/if there was a news posting prior to the Steam sale declaring that it was a Steam promotion or bust for Introversion, but I don't recall seeing one, and if I had I'd have readily bought Darwinia, sooner.
