I like what I see and I especially like what I read. Simulation, rather than scripted events, to allow for complex interactions that aren't explicitly programmed into the game.

Introversion are pretty cool. I'm interested in this other project they're developing (as mentioned on the blog) called Tactinomicon, a tactical RPG (a la Disgaea, Final Fantasy Tactics, etc, but hex-based and so forth)

I'd just like to mention that Part 16 just gave a direct nod to Dwarf Fortress and the Bay12Games business model.

would be sweet if it caught on more for simulations like this, most "big" game developers cant sit out the long investment to make games of the depth of DF or SV, so we end up with yet-another-dune2-clone.  i'd be willing to sit through longer game development if we got to play the alpha releases and make micropayments along the way.

or models like Taleworlds and Data Realms, where you pay upfront for the promise of a final game later.  theres even an online comic called Erfworld where you can have your community membership dues translated at a 1:1 ratio into store credit to buy books and shirts or whatever.

its a great model, seems be successfull for those that have adopted it.  i hope it catches on.

Exciting stuff. I've been watching this for a while and it sounds a lot like I was hoping it would be. Hacking the real world.

So glad to finally hear about what the gameplay would be like, and not be disappointed at all!

Oh hell yes.

It's been a long time since I saw a game that I would be willing to preorder, and this is it (once they eventually start taking preorders of course).

Darwinia wasn't enjoyable at all for me, Defcon didn't interest me enough to even try out, but Uplink was great...and I'm really, really looking forwards to this now.

I can't imagine it actually working, gameplaywise, but wouldn't it be awesome if this was a mixed strategy/FPS multiplayer game--one player is the strategy and planner like this game, and the other player(s) are the actual infiltration squad.

Again I can't see it being fun for very long, but as a novelty, that would be cool.

Man, I remember reading something along these likes on the Introversion server in Uplink.

Might be worth a shot. I enjoyed Darwinia and Uplink, so...
