Subversion / Introversion
« on: October 15, 2008, 05:09:44 pm »

It's Introversion's new title. They are the creators of darwinia, defcon, some old game about hacking some people liked, etc. They didn't give any info about the game, only that it has procedural cities and player made buildings, but what for, no one knows. I like the lil demo videos of the generator and thought I should post their blogs here. Mind you they haven't posted anything about it in months. So who knows, vaporware? *shrug*

Most of the links have pictures and some have movies about it.

Edit: They revealed the game is about invading buildings, disabling devices. The player is a hacker who also has some agents on the field, so he should use his hacking skills along with the agents skills to get things done. I don't think there's much more info available to the game, but it seems it will be entirely procedurally generated, so it should be fun.

Edit2: Also, talk about Introversion here.

I think it is closer to Toady's month-end project, worked on slowly with little outside mentions.

Still, I want to see something come out of it too.

Bear in mind that for the past three months or so they've all been on Multiwinia like no other.  But now that that's over, I'm looking forward to seeing more work on this title.

That "some old game" about hacking is Uplink, and it's fantastic. Opened my eyes to Indie gaming and its epic-ness, really. (I know it's not technically indie, but it's unique enough and the company is small enough to keep from comericializing on stuff. That's my definition of indie.)

But this game looks great, sort of a G-mod except you build the world. Do they have any planned objectives or is it really sandboxy?

Ha. The only game I expect to be perfect is my game. I liked Oblivion, so there's something to prove I don't let hopes pwn my games. Spore was too far off though, they failed.

They're letting you out already? But it isn't 2012 yet...

But I've seen Subversion, but from what Introversion has done before, I bet it's going to do with taking over the entire city somehow.

Yeah, I've been watching this for a while. Whatever this game eventually does, I can't wait for mods to happen.

EDIT: Part 13 just came up.

Look back at part one.

It seems to have a uplink-OS like interface of some kind, with email and such.

Maybe it is not gong in that direction, but I assume that you are taking control of a single person from that.

From the beginning some of the people at the introversion forums thought this might be a uplink 2 of sorts where you hack the real world and have real effects, hence the complex integration of different mechanical parts.
