If you mean do they have the [evil] tag then you will never find it. Skeletal and zombie monsters are derivative of their counterparts. They will only appear in evil areas, which is what the [evil] implies, so in that case the answer is yes. And as you said they will by default be malignant so it's evil on all counts.

when i saw him first, he had crossed the border chasing a dwarf. when i saw him next, he was skeletal. he had died (of course), and a bunch of roaming goblin skeletons passed over the corpse. they took it with 'em. when the "deseased" tag dissapeared, he was still good. he slayed to goblins before my fortress died.

What about the myth that wild animals don't breed, only tame ones do.

In a map full of fish, the pike and longnose gar didn't breed until I tamed a male pike and longnose gar.  The sturgeon didn't breed until I tamed a sturgeon (I don't recall the sex).

Easy way to test that unicorn, find a place that is both good and evil. I think that should work.

So its not a myth but when I asked on irc if magma flows off the map they said yes, all fluids behave the same. Well I tried it anyway as I saw some 3dwarf images that suggested otherwise and the verdict was.

*Laval will not flow off the map*

*That's* interesting.  That would mean that it is, in fact, possible to flood the world.

I can't tell from your screenshot -- is it possible that it's not flowing off the map because it's belowground, and what's on the other side of the map is rock?  What happens if you pump it aboveground?

(It's a slightly rhetorical question -- I'm off to test it myself anyways...)

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.

It is above ground, it is in a river valley, the river being paved over

Magma mist, apparently it exists because there is a page on the wiki.  How is it generated?  Does it set things on fire?  What happens when it collides with regular mist?

The one time I saw magma mist was when I dumped my miner into a magma vent that I was collapsing stuff into.  I think the splash from a square cap dropping on the pipe was the trigger.

Only vaguely. Made of the same substance and put to the same use, but a bit like comparing a castle and a doublewide trailer.

If my current fort gets far along (It'll be a while before I'm able to play heavily again...so many exams to grade :\), I'll be attempting to build a small closed magma fall near the entrance to my fort (A 270degree spiral that goes down three levels to give the caravan access. The 3x3 hole in the middle of the spiral will be where the magma fall is located.)

Not sure if I'll be able to test the collision with regular mist without doing some planning changes.

Falling magma does not make magma mist: http://mkv25.net/dfma/movie-918-magma-fall

Droping stuff in does. Don't know about catapulting stone into magma. Sounds fun either way ;D

Urge to see if they breed arena gobs, goblins that fight or righteous Dwaven Smite, LIKE THE BFC 4000, the dwarviliest cannon out there, as big, if not bigger than a colossus, read the Fine Print for more, and it's origin!!!

what? maces and scimitars are easily useable. Been there, done that. Two-handed sword wielding - THAT would be cool.

a) Draft dwarf
b) Forbid all single handed swords and scimitars
c) Set the drafted dwarf to use swords
d) Set him to use two weapons, no shield
d) He should eventually pick up a two handed sword (longsword)
At least this worked for me in 38c
