These aren't myths; these are howtos.  The wiki has a whole page about aquifer-piercing.  I've used every technique (almost all my forts involve aquifers); they work.

So I heard this the other night on irc.
It's rumored that some elves have bones made of bauxite. It's only about one in a thousand though. Can someone verify this?

Absolutely untrue.  Completely impossible under the current system.

Next release, entirely do-able.

Here's one for people.  So Capntastic says that he's seen worlds where, in Adventure Mode, you can get multiple moons or the sun rising in the west and such.  I believe it, but I've never seen it or any screenshot to the effect.  For completeness, has any got one?

I don't know about multiple moons, but stuff like the direction the sun rises and sets is randomized with every world, just two lazy to figure how to post a screen :).

You sure? It could be an easter egg left by Toady.

Trust me, elves do not have bauxite bones.  Ever.  It's literally not possible with the way the game works.  Next version it will be, but not now.

If you heard it on IRC, they were probably just comparing weird stories of elves escaping magma traps or something.

I'm sure whoever made up that one was just trying to inspire people to perform genocidal experiments on elves to hunt for nonexistent bauxite bones. Good thing you corrected that before it caught on.

I would say you never get more than one stone per mine event, but I never tested what happens if you mine out two levels using ramping.  I still think that even though you are mining out two levels by building a ramp that it will only produce one stone (of the type of rock where the ramp is.)
I believe digging out a ramp produces two stones, one from the ramp itself and one from the rock above. My memory is a little hazy though, so this ramp digging is worth testing.

Already asked this question and tested it, ramps will produce two stones.

Here is a question:

If you turn magma into obsidian over an 'outside-light' or an 'inside light' area, does it make it 'subterranean' again?

What causes cave-ins in mass-ramp open pit quarries?
(I guess the floors that sometimes survive)

What causes these floors to remain?
(hardcoded to prevent dwarfs standing on said tile when ramped from falling...this turns out to be unproductive as I already have several legendary miners murdered by this hazard.)

What causes some isolated ramps to remain after all surrounding ones have auto-collapsed?

Seconded!

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.
