Amusing Bugs
« on: October 14, 2008, 07:25:49 pm »

One of the fun things about modding in DF is that anything can happen when you get something wrong.  For example, I recently added a creature that used a body that didn't exist, because I had a typo in the body definition.  This led to an interesting first adventure...

I'm not sure how many times my heart was torn out, there!

So, what sort of craziness have you encountered, and how did you cause it?

Well, back in the 2D version there were no flows or depth. There were only floods and anti-floods. Thus if you were to disable the anti-flood, you could have a permanent flood.

 With water or magma.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Well, there's always the thermonuclear catsplosions...

one time I tried to mod drakes into my game... they couldn't move or do anything because I guess they needed 'hands' not 'claws'. Then they would never, ever wake up when they went to sleep, and dehydrated in their sleep, which was weird. I gave them [NO_SLEEP].

The Unforgotten Beast, Shoruke, has come! A pale-skinned human. It has heterochromatic eyes and moves in an unpredictable manner. Beware its rapier wit!

Uh...  That's not a bug...
That's instant-boiling + SEVERONBREAKS that the creator set up specifically for the purpose.
