Incineration Chambers and Moral Qualms.
« on: October 14, 2008, 11:45:01 am »

I have a chamber with bauxite grates and bauxite hatches one floor above. I use it to dump magma on live goblins to set them on fire after letting them sit with the rotting bodies of their comrades for three days.

It's starting to make me feel like Hitler. Is this bad? :|

It is just a game. If later versions include prisoner negotiations, then perhaps sparing them would be fair then.

If later versions include prisoner negotiations

Hopefully we can make slaves from the prisoners, or enlisting them as mercenaries would be also awesome.  8)

You're good so long as none of the gobbos are named Jew or something of that matter.

And if one happens to be, take screenshots.   :D

Personal restraints should be an item and we should have the option of "restrain Goblin" without necessarily tying it to the ground. This way we could carry them around; in conjunction with a catapult that could choose its ammunition, imagine the morale penalty.

Catapult execution would be perfect.

Do the humane thing, dump the rest of the goblins in a pit and let them loose

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

From "Angroshs Kinder" Das schwarze Auge Zwergenhandbuch - (Angrosh Children, the dark eye, german pen&paper, dwarven handbook):
"Elves!? Their men dont wear beards, and their women bathe nacked to lure you into the water and drown you. Thank Angrosh they are as ugly as the day and all big and skinny."

Explain this now. Has this been tested? Can I kill goblins like this?

Also, will smoke eventually kill a creature?

What's this 'morality' of which you speak? But seriously, It's DF, just kill those bastards. They would do the same if they had the ingenuity...

Some of the stuff we do is just... I dunno. Cruel.

Ex:
In adventurer mode, training your wrestling skill by breaking every bone in a creature's body, and then over a period of several game days choking it, letting it recover, choking it again... And finally removing it's limbs and leaving it there, still alive, to see what the ledgends say about it in a few decades.
