Why do the seiges stand there
« on: October 14, 2008, 10:29:31 am »

So i get a goblin seige! everyone inside (early for seige really, 1 immigration wave so i'm at about 11 dwarves. would be at 16, but 5 died, including my original miner). But the seige just stands there, waiting at the edge of the map. If it matters, i have the ender goblins modded in.
Any ideas?

Do they have an open path to dwarves? If they have no door breakers, and nothing to kill, I heard they just wait around. That's kinda the idea of a siege, anyway...

As open as i think you can get, a big long empty pathway next to the magma pipe (i have 2 aquifer layers), some stairs down (might be the problem?) and then my dwarves. Even when they go out for water, they dont seem to move towards them.

Yep, exactly. If they cannot reach your fortress [moats for example], they won't do anything. If they don't have building destroyers, and you have "blocked" the fortress entrances with doors, they also won't do anything.

*edit*
Reyyvo - if there is a way into your fortress [no doors, moats], this siege must be bugged somehow. Perhaps you should upload your saved game.

Well i'm guessing the stairs are causing the blockage then, because i could draft all of my dwarves, change nothing (no doors, bridges, etc.), and get slaughtered.

Well i suppose if i cant get them to attack, how do i get them to go away? how long will it be before they just up and leave?

EDIT: Ok so they left as the elven caravan arrived and i marked where they were as a restricted spot.

He's going to be dead soon enough. Ender Goblins do that sort of thing.
