After looking at that screenshot more closely

The one thing that overshadows the child's obsession with felines would have to be:

His Diety's name is: Id

In fact, it makes his feline obsession make even more sense

You could use Dwarf Companion to mark all those cats for butchering anyway.  The child might not be so happy about it, and whether you can use the materials from those cats is a toss-up, but it might be worth it to spite the kid.

What's fun is when you chain all the cats/kittens and they still try to adopt people, yet they can't move.
Hah! Forget that! Mark the kid for butchering!
Mark everything for butchering!  Butcher the world!
Also, on the subject of butchering, how about this idea?
Step 1: Obtain dwarf in fell mood.
Step 2: Lock moody dwarf in workshop, alone.
Step 3: Lock the Hammerer in an adjacent room, alone.
Step 4: Unlock the door
Step 5: ???
Step 6: Hammerer-bone War Hammer = (Ironic) Profit

I love how the kid's father is the BUTCHER.

Not only is he a menace to the fortress, he's putting his OWN FATHER out of work.
