Argh!!!
« on: October 11, 2008, 03:30:13 pm »

Hi. I've had some serious frustrations with a certain cyclops (In my frozen world, mind you) that I have been quested to kill many times. I have sent about 5 adventurers at him, and have failed to kill him. Now,he's basically super agile, and faster than [speed:1] dwarves.

I haven't a damn clue what to do with him.

If he's ever outside, next to something flammable (not sure how frozen your frozen world is), then you can burn him to death. Trees are especially good, as you can sneak up behind them.
That or leave him be. Until you get an over-trained beowulf of a character. With a lot of friends.

My favourite method of "cheating" (not really) is to retire a bunch of adventurers in a town and then come back and recruit them.

As long as they're not all more uber than you, they'll auto-help the adventurer.

This way you can have a custom party of adventurers running around the countryside causing trouble or trying to take on megabeasts.

Thank you, I'll try that and see if I can't kill this behemoth, whose opening speech is two pages long already.

I try that occasionally, I once spent like ten minutes recruiting the perfect, racially diverse party, with an elven archer, an axedwarf, a human swordsman(Me), and a human spearman.  The elf lasted all of one minute and got his throat ripped out by a wolf in the first fight, and the rest of us traveled to the northernmost town in the world, and received a quest to kill a HYDRAR!  It was way up in the tundra at the base of a mountain, but didn't even stay in its cave.  The moment we walked into the map, it grabbed the dwarf by the chest and threw him, killed the spearman(I don't remember how), and then finished me.  Time well spent.

I like a group of axedwarves with human spear/swordmen too.

Bowmen are annoying because once they're out of arrows they do suicide BONKS with their bows. Damn useful if they're not the first to go though.

Wow, I recruited a hammerman, a swordsman, and a maceman.

I die first. How? SOCKS.

JESUS CHRIST SOCKS.

Anyhow, the rest of my party gets raped.

fuck it, I'm not even going near that guy again.

You know spears work better against large targets?

Also, maybe you do need a few bowmen.

What stats are you bringing? Should take almost all shield with some weapon skill, rest in armor and wrestling.

Or just the most beefed up ranged people you have. The goal is to kill it before it even touches you, because what small defenses you have won't do much when they can kill you in a couple of seconds either way.

Now if you have a group of spearmen, shields and wrestling might be a good idea.

Bring a couple lashers to cause pain,  A couple spearmen to pierce organs, a couple swords to chop it to pieces, and a couple hammers to keep it down.  Then recruit every wrestler you can to shield you with their meat.  Their delicious delicious meat.  :P

Keep in mind you can only have around six people in your party. If I had my way I would have a horde of lashers to my disposal. Heck, a legion.

You can have more than 6 if you are a legendary motherfscker.

I seem to recall having a small army once.

Jesus Christ, Finally.

The Cyclops suffocated, from having both of his lungs pierced, but not before taking me, and 5 of my party with him, and smashing to pieces the internal organs of the surviving member.

Jesus.

I've had an adventurer with more than ten companions. By what I know, every quest you complete gives you an extra slot, or somethin.

Stats influence how strong of people are willing to join you.
Rep from quest influences how many are willing to be in your party at a time.
