Your misfortune makes me laugh.  On the plus side, with some channeling and cage traps you could potentially capture the whole population in there.

That's what you get for cheating.

But yeah, those pools are fun!  Release the monsters and storm them with untrained recruits!

So the rest of the pools aren't above them? Usually those two tiles show up on the bottom of the pool. I will usually mine into them and drain the water out through a row of cage traps into my own cistern.

You have my sympathy, although I must confess laughing out loud at your misfortune.

I don't get what's the dude's misfortune, or how those things even got in there, whatever they are.

I believe large pools of underground water are preferable. That, and all the normal beasties are concentrated to those two tiles.

And they got there though quite a bit of misfortune.

I wonder if you can kill the critters in the pools by dumping rocks on them.

If you look at that mica deposit, it's got a chunk out of it...that's what should be the dimension of the pool. Because he used reveal, it broke, and he only gets a little tiny pool.

Surely that's wrong.  I don't know if Tweak works differently from reveal.exe, but the few times I tried using Tweak's tile revealer, underground pools appeared just fine.  They're made at embark (or maybe even worldgen) not when revealed.  I think this was a generation bug.

They're made at worldgen.  Sometimes you can find pre-exposed underground pools, if you're lucky.

I had an underground pool, many versions ago, that was actually exposed to the surface, with a roof over it like a little grotto. That was awesome...because the magma vent was in the next local-square over.

It makes me angry that you can have pre-exposed underground pools.
It's almost as infuriating as that shampoo which advertised "visibly healthier-looking hair".
