Author Topic: I got the King from Adamantine, do I get any benefits from having the King?  (Read 2339 times)

Or is just another noble with ridiculous demands that needs to be dropped into the HFS pits?

My king has yet to make a mandate and he's been around a couple years.  He's demanded a table then forgot it and demanded a throne, both for his tomb, but he didn't care what quality/material so it was easy.

And the Queen Consort rocks!  Toady forgot to turn off her hauling abilities.  She hasn't made any mandates either. She's my favorite noble by far.

I stopped giving the Tax Collector or Hammerer any rooms or caring about their mandates.  I've likewise started ignoring every other noble mandate/ban and disbanded the Fortress Guard and removed my sheriff. If any nobles go insane I'll be happy for one less mouth to feed, except for the Queen Consort and Philosopher -- they're ok.

You get to never see a trade liason from the mountain homes ever again.

Say "buh bye" to being able to order Bauxite.

There are no benefits besides having a VIP to drown instead of plain immigrants.

That's why the liaison stopped coming!
I don't suppose drowning the king would solve the issue?
Secondly - since my king also came from adamantine, I didn't get a consort or anything of the sort. Just the king (well, queen really). Will the consort ever come so I can get royal babies?
Lastly, if the king/queen dies - will it ever be replaced? Or is both my fortress and every other fortress under the same dwarf empire forever without royalty?

THIS THREAD HAS MADE ME REALIZE SOMETHING.

THE KING IS THE RULER OF A DWARVEN CIV.

GOBLINS HAVE [CAN_HAVE_MILLITARY_LEADER] THEREFORE HAVE CHAMPIONS AND THE LIKE AS RULERS.

THIS MEANS THAT WHEN THE GOBLIN KING COMES TO A GOBLIN FORTRESS, HE WOULD ACTUALLY BE USEFUL.

AS SUCH, IF WE ADD THE [CAN_HAVE_MILLITARY_LEADER] TO THE DWARVEN CIV, YOU WOULD GET A FREE HIGH LEVEL MILLITARY PERSON WHEN THE KING COMES.

FUCK YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS

It doesn't work. It's been tried.

And don't write in all caps, it's fucking annoying.

So should I just kill him or let him be with destroying rock salt doors because he doesn't have a Royal Throne Room?

My King showed up, registered as a "Friendly", hasn't actually come all the way to my fortress yet, and now lurks in the woods.  On the plus-side, he's apparently decently skilled because he keeps murdering beasties out there for me, making my woods safe for clear-cutting.

I can just picture the stories the kids are getting told.

When you're following an angel, does it mean you have to throw your body off a building?

"So kids, what story do you want me to read to you tonight?"

Actually I think someone had their dwarven civ following a titan. It's over in the bug forums since there were a few problems when it showed up.

My king is adept or proficient in like seven skills, two of them being Ambusher and Marksdwarf.

He'll occasionally take time out of his busy schedule to throw goblins off of the tower.

But, still, he's a noble.  You can't tell him what to do, and he doesn't do special things, like the Dungeon Master.  If you normally kill nobles like that, you may as well kill him, too.  If you try to keep them alive, try to keep him alive.

tldr: No special benefit, handle as usual.

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.

So basically one can't mine any adamantine without the king showing up and making you unable to order gems and stuff anymore?

Hehe. I can imagine this being a slight understatement.
