Forum DNS issues
« on: October 08, 2008, 11:33:32 am »

Strangely today all the forum pages seem to redirect to the ip address for the forum. I could only log in by using firebug to edit the forms on the login page and the topic editor to point to the ip address instead of to the bay12games domain.

The login page kept telling me I needed to enter a username.

I wonder how many people will actually be able to reply to this?

I think the bug is fixed. It probably had something to do with the server move. I was effected a few hours ago but am fine now.

I'm having issues too - in order to post/login/reply/etc, I'm having to use Chrome and edit all the addresses manually (thank goodness for chrome's element inspector/editor!)

I had an issue earlier but its fixed now.  Noscript seemed to think the ip for bay 12 was trying to run a malicious cross xss script or something.

http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=25940.0 This should fix it, if it isn't already fixed.

It was kinda funny to see something like 230 guests and no logged in users, earlier today. You could see the view counts of threads going up, but no one had posted for a few hours...

Hehe, it seems like that more people tried to visit the forum while they couldn't even login compared to the normal days, when it works without problems.
Most Online Today: 257

Now compare it to the other months. [July was the best, but that was the month of a major release]
It seems like that the news [the official forum is not working!] was spreading like wildfire.  ;D

Our Dwarven instincts compel us to run blindly towards disaster in case there may be a !!!XX☼<☼giant cave spider silk sock☼>☼XX!!! lying around.

Fixed.

If the DNS problem is fixed, that's far better than the alternative - that a piece of malicious code could've been inserted and lain dormant for months.

"Goblin virus! Protect the forums!"

is slightly scarier than "A vile force of downtime is upon us."

Hm...there is a problem with the forum again? This is the third time today that this happens:

"Connection Problems

Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later."

However it only lasts for 1-3 minutes thankfully, when it happens.
