Napoleon wanted to use aluminum for his army, but it was so expensive and rare that he could only get a few sets made, I believe.

Sounds like a really dumb idea, considering it's softness and at-the-time value. Can You remember any sources confirming that, bombcar? I'm curious, 'cos Mr. Bonaparte seemed like a smart guy otherwise.

I've seen both 5 and 2 thrown around for artifact multiplier. It would be useful to know, since if it's 5, this is a .5*5=2.5, only slightly worse than 1.3*2=2.6 masterwork steel, and if it's 2, this is .5*2=1, or about the same as a basic iron weapon.

I think he's getting mixed up with Napoleon's aluminum diningware.

I like the attention to detail the artificer put on, making sure to put an image of an aluminum axe on the aluminum axe so it was clearly labelled.
Can you tell if the image of an aluminum axe has also an image of an aluminum axe?

Napoleon also thought steam power was a bad idea

edit:  err, he actually thought steam powered ships were a bad idea.  which we all know now revolutionized naval travel.

you can't win at everything

Well, it's little different to outfitting your guards in golden armour. Unwieldy and useless in combat, but looks excellent.
Even if it isn't true.

based on what i know of the time, i also find it highly doubtful that napoleon wanted any sort of armor for his army, considering the armor-piercing qualities of firearms known to all.

High quality armor was perfectly capable of stopping firearm fire into the napoleonic era.  Armor was generally considered "proof" at that point in history.  For instance "proof against pistol fire at five feet" would be tested to protect it's wearer from such fire.

I'd be interested to know how artifact modifiers effect things like attack speed, and chance to hit (no point have 50x iron damage if you never hit something with it :P)
